How good does the competition ladder look?

I can't stop looking at it.

**NRL first grade: 24 rounds, Tigers in 2nd position.**

How good is that? (i have to go back 30 years to 1980 to find a time when Wests were doing better, leading with 2 rounds to go. I don't know my Balmain history that well, but i'm sure someone can fill me in).

Toyota Cup - Tigers sitting in 7th and finding form again.
NSW State Cup - BRET 3rd and Magpies 5th.

Great effort from the club/s.
Makes for one happy chappy.

worse we can come is 6th if we lose our last 2 games. 1 wim will cement a top 4 spot. 2 wins top 2 and cant be knocked out first week. go you tigers. yesterdays game proved to me that we have what it takes to win the comp this year

I know what you mean, i've looked at the ladder 4 times today, i keep expecting to see us in 9th or 10th with 2 rounds to go,

Happy to fill you in on Balmain's finals history. The 80's was a good decade for us. We finished 2nd in 1985, 5th in 1986, 4th in 1987, 6th in 1988 (beaten in by Canterbury in the GF after Terry Lamb knocked Elery Hanley out cold) In 1989 we finished 3rd behind Souths & Penrith. This of course lead to one of the darkest days in Rugby League when we were beaten in the GF during extra time by Canberra after Warren Ryan made the worst coaching blunder of all time by taking Sirro and Blocker off AT THE SAME TIME. Great move stupid - I'm not bitter tho' (MUCH). The last time Balmain made the finals was in 1990 when we beat Newcastle in a play-off for 5th.
All those forum contributors who bag Sheensey every week, take heart that Warren Ryan is out of the picture.
Sorry if you found this boring but I tend to get a bit excited when I remember the Glory Days!!!

Not boring LDT. Always good to learn a bit of my unknown history. I should have remembered 88 a little better as two Balmain mates dragged me along to the minor semi, and I was barracking for them in the big one.
Looks like 85 then was the last time Balmain was sitting as pretty as we are this year - that's 25 years ago!
