How loyal are you to Tigers? Hypothetical

I do some consulting work for another NRL team, but despite this I can’t bring myself to like that team one bit come Sunday (no second teams for me)...It got me thinking if my sons ever made it in the NRL and happened to play with a different team, who would I support, their team or Tigers? I’m stumped on this one... What would you do?

Yep, maybe it’s a bit like playing super coach. You want Tigers to win but if your player scores a try you’re not as disappointed as you would have been if it was someone else.

My son has been asked to train with a certain team, still being 16 though.
If he ever made it that far, he would represent qld.
I hate the maroons 🤔

I support the Tigers as i have done all my life.I used to have a neutral opinion of the Bears Bluebags and Magpies(all fellow battlers),i have total disdain for the others.
I could never support another club and football would lose me as a supporter if we ever didnt exist as a club

It's a dilemma.

It reminds me of an essay I once read written by the great English cricket correspondent Neville Cardus about his boyhood hero, the legendary Australian batsman, Victor Trumper.

As an english boy he desperately wanted England to win every ashes test but, as he idolised Trumper, he wanted him to play a major innings every time he batted.

It was a predicament that he solved by praying at his bedside before each test match: "Please God, let Victor Trumper score a century against England tomorrow.......out of an Australian all-out total of 124".

Perhaps you could take a leaf out of Cardus' book and pray that your son scores three tries against the Tigers, but that his team is soundly beaten.

We have a deal that if they make it into the comp I’ll be a member and cut up my signed Balmain jersey from the 89 grand final he quit being a thoroughbred. Deal made a year before there first attempt into the comp.

Oh no, I hope Bombers never make it in then mate. And I know a deal is a deal, but can you offer them something else? Anything else? A first born's hand in marriage perhaps?

It’s not valuable money wise - wasn’t an official one. Was lucky to be at the game as a 5year old, took my top off and they all signed it. (Including a bunch of reserve graders) also I figured I’d play for the tigers one day too, so quickly added my squiggle. I’d say that takes out anyone else ever wanting it...
