How much money will be freed up with Ellis and Lote gone?

Asssuming both Ellis and Lote not playing for us in 2013 how much money would this free up?

Would love Ellis is reconsider an extension.

Have we backended Blair's deal?

We will have to update some contracts like Tedesco/Groat/Woods in 2013

Hopefully we have some money to go to the market in 2013 for a quality second rower (depending on how BMM develops and if Simon Dwyer is able to play again) and a prop forward (Bell is a short term prospect)

Thoughts?
 
Lote is supposedly on something like 400k per year, but not sure how much of that is actually under the cap - Someone else on here said recently they thought only about a third of his salary is under the cap, which would make it only freeing up 133K or so.

GARETH ELLIS jokes that his biggest fear, in signing a two-year contract extension with Wests Tigers, is that his 14-week-old son might develop an Australian accent once he develops a voice.

Isaac Ellis is something of a rarity in that he was born in Australia - but is ineligible for an Australian passport because his English-born parents are on working visas.

Ellis, who originally thought his stint with the NRL and the Tigers would last no more than the three years he originally signed for, says having Isaac spend his first years in Sydney played a role in the English Test second-rower committing to the Tigers until the end of 2013 - to a point.

''I just hope he doesn't grow up with an Aussie accent,'' Ellis said. ''I'll be getting him on Skype with my family so he can get that nice strong Yorkshire accent.''

Ellis was one of the Tigers' best last year and has continued to develop this season. The club regards his re-signing until he is 32 as a significant boost - as does Ellis.

''When I first came over here, I saw it as a three-year thing and then head home - been there, done that,'' Ellis said. ''But now that I've lived out here and I've played out here, and my family's happy, I thought I'd stay a bit longer.''

I've always wondered where this info that Gareth isn't with us next year has come from.

He has always been contracted until the end of 2013, when he signed his extension.

Lote will free up a huge amount, probably to upgrade at least one player and sign either Grant or Koroibete if they show promise.
 
I tear up with the thouoght of maybe losing Ellis. I hope he stays for years to come. Lote on the other hand, well I haven't been a fan. Very overrated and past it years ago. Give the wing to Utai. He deserves it.
 
There is no guarantee that Lote won't get another on year contract with us

When he finds his 2010 form he will shut up a lot of people on this Forum
 
Absolutely agree Happy Tiger. Lote was great for us in 2010-scored a couple of tries that most other wingers wouldn't have got within a bull's roar of. Showed plenty of pace too-I can't forget that solo try he scored against the Raiders in the finals-left them for dead. Hope his injuries are behind him and he tears it up for us this year, the rest of the team really seem to walk taller when he is playing well
 
Love Lote but this would have to be his last year with the us.
I don't think it will free up to much as we will need the coin to resign some of the younger player and to accommodate the player annual contract increases.

I havent been too impressed with Lote but i'd love Gareth to stay forever, hes amazing :slight_smile:
 
I thought I read Lote was on $300K on the cap,plus 3rd party deals,so $400 plus over all,but only $300k of usable cap space if he doesn't find his 2010 form,but unlike others,I reckon Grant will be a diamond in the rough.
 
Lote brings much more to the club than playing, Look who met Tiger Woods( Lote) played Basket ball with Dwayne Wade etc.

Lote will get another year if he plays well this year as his family are set and loving living in Sydney and the Cap will increase to assist. John Grant will be an able replacement if he doesnt step up this year.
 
Lote won't free up too much I don't think, a lot of his salary will be from 3rd party deals. Ellis would free up a lot when he leaves the club.

Wests Tigers have today agreed to release international second-rower Gareth Ellis a year earlier from his contract to enable him to return home to England in 2013.

The England second-rower – rated by many as the best in the world – was contracted to Wests Tigers until the end of 2013 but asked the Club for a release after this season.

“Whilst we are disappointed, we have granted Gareth his wish to return to England at the end of this year,’’ said Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys.

“Gareth has been an integral member of the Wests Tigers team in recent years. He has taken his game to another level under Club and Australian Test Coach Tim Sheens and is held in the highest esteem by everyone at Wests Tigers.

“Gareth will leave Wests Tigers with our blessing – and hopefully an NRL premiership.”

Ellis, who turns 31 this year, made his NRL debut for Wests Tigers in round 1 of the 2009 season against Canberra at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

He has played 64 games for Wests Tigers and has won the Club’s Player of the Year award for the past three years. He is the only Wests Tigers player to achieve such a feat.

Ellis had his contract extended during the middle of last season until the end of 2013\. Part of the new contract saw an option for Ellis to return to England after the 2012 season.

“I feel the time is right for me to return to England,’’ Ellis said.

“It was a difficult decision to make as I have really enjoyed my time at Wests Tigers. Everyone at the Club has been terrific to me and my family. I couldn’t ask for more.

“I have a young son now. My wife Rachael and I feel it is time to head home to our families at the end of this season.

“I can assure Wests Tigers supporters I will be giving it my all to ensure the team finishes high up as possible so we can give ourselves another strong chance of winning the Telstra Premiership.”

Am I the only one who thinks the only thing that makes sense is to take to sacrafice Moltzen and add his money to the cash thats left over from Ellis and Lote and have one giant crack at Cooper Cronk before he re-signs with the Storm?
