Hull FC move for Jacob Miller blocked by Wests Tigers

Wow, Someone said Sheens was holding youngsters back? Wow. Sheens may have been guilty of some poor selections last season but lets have some perspective please.

As for the Sheens didn't rate Miller, happens all the time, some coaches like the way a guy plays or they don't.
As it stands now Miller is in the frame and if he gets his shot I really hope he makes the most of it!

That's the reality of it isn't it RMS, Coaches rate different players. I guess it comes to down to the style of football they play, their attitudes on and off field and their actions. It obviously wasn't to Sheens' liking. With Potter though it's a clean slate. Potter's already willing to give him a chance to stake a claim. The rest is up to milky now.

Sad we are getting excited about naturally obvious coaching decisions that most nrl supporters would not batter an eye at. Just goes to show the sad coaching world of decisions we have had to endure for so long.

With potter at the helm we may start to all feel normal again. Hoorah!

Glad to hear the new coach is quickly showing his hand because by doing so he is already showing Miller the sort of confidence that will get a positive response in return.

At the end of the day you usually get back what you give - and Sheens never gave Miller much at all.

Regardless of Sheens opinion of Miller, the best thing for Jacob was to spend the season in the NYC.
Is he ready for NRL in 2013? I'm still not convinced just yet, but looks like he'll get another opportunity and hope he can cement the 7 jumper.

Would not get too excited.

Potter has been here 5 minutes and this scenario presents itself. With the player still with 1 year on his contract remaining, there is no way Potter would just let him go. He will use the next 12 months to make his own assessment of Miller.

I agree. I'm not convinced he was an NRL HB at the start of 2012 but I think the year in NYC particularly with the finals run has been beneficial for Miller. If he is going to be a top line number 7 he's had a pretty good apprenticeship now, a new coach who is public supporting him, and an off-season to show he's the man for the job.

Yet 95% of this forum reckoned only Bellamy and bennett (Bennett until last year) were better than him

Some serious tunes have changed…....

Regardless of Sheens opinion of Miller, the best thing for Jacob was to spend the season in the NYC.

Yeah?
If he spent the year in firsts he'd have about nearly 30 NRL games to his belt....he surely wouldve learned more than he knows now....and if we'd missed the semis???
Well....we did anyway
Maybe a year at BRET wouldve been best for him???
Its all opinion....but I know for a fact Benji @ half and Ayshford & Lawrence at 5/8 was just a stinkin waste of time

we have had no real half back since scott prince so lets give this kid miller a decent go at 1st grade and what have we got to lose there is no one else.

i agree with the consensus here; miller does deserve at least a chance in my view. not sure why sheens held him back, but - and this i admit is an 'only see nyc games when foxtel has them on' opinion - he looked to be a bit 'myopic' how he played in nyc…. that said, i thought he was excellent in first grade and hope he flourishes under the new regime.

was very happy the tiges got potter and thus far he appears everything we have hoped for after some very frustrating years under sheens. lets now hope the results come!

SCOTT Prince's manager has urged Hull FC to stay patient, insisting he will sign a three-year deal once terms over his Gold Coast exit are agreed.

Steve Robinson, who represents the 32-year-old Aussie scrum-half, is hoping to conclude a move to the Black and Whites by Monday.

Insisting there are no other offers on the table for Prince in the NRL, Robinson revealed his client has already started hunting for a home to rent in Hull.

And whilst admitting to being frustrated about the delay in agreeing Prince's pay-off from the Titans, Robinson has urged Hull to stay calm.

"We know Hull won't wait forever, but I would urge them to be patient until we can get a severance agreed with Gold Coast," Robinson told the Mail.

"He still has a year remaining on his deal there, but I can pretty much categorically say he won't be there next season.

"Now we have to make sure Scott comes away from the situation without losing out, and that is what we are hoping to agree and get signed off."

Robinson insists signing for Hull, where he would link up with former Wests Tigers team-mate Ben Galea, is what Prince's camp are working to.

And he says the player, who boasts 278 NRL appearances with North Queensland, Brisbane Wests and the Titans, is excited at the prospect.

"This will be Scott's final career move without a doubt, and a three-year deal in Super League is very attractive," he said.

"It is a great opportunity for Scott to test himself in Super League and for his family to move to England and experience life in Europe in the off season.

"I actually know York very well, it is a wonderful place, so I have been telling him that he'll love it over there.

"We have talked about the move and Scott has been looking on the Internet at properties to rent.

"He is certainly keen on the move. Hull would have known long ago if he wasn't keen, I can assure you of that."

Hull owner Adam Pearson this week revealed the club has now made its final offer to the player, with talks having dragged into their fourth week.

And Robinson hopes those terms will be acceptable to both parties when talks start again today with FC's director of rugby Shaun McRae.

"This has taken much longer than we wanted, but often, due to holidays on both sides of the world, the right people haven't been around to sort things out," Robinson added.

"Scott's not pricing himself out of this by any means, the guys in the UK are not shy in telling you if that is the case.

"There have been some delays, and it is difficult because we are talking to Shaun through a third party.

"I haven't seen the final offer which is being talked about, but once we have something written in front of us, and we can all sit and talk it through, I am confident we will get it done."

So whats stopping the Titans chasing Miller , especially if Prince signs with Hull

Closer to his family ,don't right it off

I hope Potter can wave some magic

In what is shaping as another rebuilding year for the Titans it will be Albert Kelly or bust for the embattled club, which does not have enough cap space to replace premiership-winner Prince after his agent yesterday confirmed he would join Hull on a three-year deal.

Prince should sign his Hull deal by Monday, with manager Steve Robinson trying to secure a severance payment from the final year of his Titans contract.

"I can pretty much categorically say he won't be there (Titans) next season,'' Robinson told the Hull Daily Mail.

"Now we have to make sure Scott comes away from the situation without losing out and that is what we are hoping to agree and get signed off.

"This will be Scott's final career move without a doubt … we have talked about the move and Scott has been looking on the internet at properties to rent.''

Prince's departure leaves a giant hole at the Titans with Kelly, at his fourth NRL club due to a litany of disciplinary issues, seen as the brightest playing prospect despite only being offered a part-time trial.

Kelly is brilliant on his day, but has never played a game at No.7 and is better known as a ball-running five-eighth.

It was thought the Titans would make a play for talented Canberra half Sam Williams, but they needed to shed Prince to get under next year's salary cap and they have no room to recruit anyone else.

Williams was a star during the Raiders' improbable run to the finals, but with Terry Campese coming back from injury next season, either Williams or Josh McCrone are destined for reserve grade each week.

This led to speculation Williams was in the Titans' sights but the halfback's manager Paul Sutton confirmed the club had not inquired about his client and he understood they were not interested in the 21-year-old.

"Sam's still at the Raiders for 2013, the Titans have not made any contact about him,'' Sutton said.

The problem for the Titans in punting Prince is there are no first grade-ready halfbacks in their squad to fill the breach.

Five-eighth Aidan Sezer is a gifted player and was their best back this season, but at just 21 he can't be expected to star without a solid half.

Jordan Rankin is a runner first, organiser second, while Beau Henry is not in calculations.

The best option could be shifting smart hooker Matt Srama to halfback in a combination with Sezer, with workhorse Beau Falloon the starting hooker in combination with Kayne Lawton.

**Wests Tigers halfback Jacob Miller had been the other No.7 Hull were chasing, but Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell said the Junior Kangaroo was staying put as new coach Mick Potter rated him highly.\

"Jacob is not going anywhere. He is contracted here until the end of 2013,'' McDonnell said.\

According to other media reports the Titans have serious cap problems and offloading Prince will help alleviate that but won't leave any room for any new contracts - i would imagine if Miller does get a run in first this year and comes up with the goods he will be chased by a number of clubs in 2014\. WT should be looking at getting at least a one year extension from the kid to see how he performs over the next year.

I'm glad wests-tgers have blocked any potential move for Miller.
time is right for him to secure the no 7 jersey.
a proper halfback playng in no 7, what a change, the team can only benefit from that.
when the combo with benji gels, it wil be great to watch.

Anyone else miss Robert Lui? No offense to Miller but if Lui wasn't such a scumbag then we wouldn't be having these conversations.

We also probably would not have signed braith, wouldn't have seen Siro in first grade and would most likely have got luke Lewis!

We also would've won the title and sheens would be prime minister

Not sure where the thread went but here is my team for 2013

1\. Moltzen
2\. Lote
3\. Lawrence
4\. Ayshford
5\. Korobiete
6\. Marshall
7\. Miller
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Blair
12\. Fulton
13\. Anasta

14\. Bell
15\. BMM
16\. Pettybourne
17\. Groat

Pretty boring side ill admit but I'm just trying to be realistic.

If we have lote, he'll start and even though he was solid I think Utai misses out.
No room for siro who really is in a transition year from 5/8 to lock IMO. I've got tedesco behind Moltz at this point only based on 1st grade experience although moltz is one dropped bomb away from NSW Cup.
Nofoaluma will need injuries at this point to get into the team as he's no better than 4th best winger, and maybe 5th or 6th compared with NSW Cup guys.

Hardest spot to pick right now is the final bench spot. I've gone with a prop but I think this will really depend on what Potters tactics are for the bench. Anyone know how he ran it at the bulls?

Could potentially see Teddy in here and moltz could shift into centres/halves/hooker if there was an injury or someone got pulled.

max smart your kidding, nofoaluma is going to be a gun he already is better than moltzen, and i hope potter picks players on form not on name value, next year.
