I don't understand

Yeah great game, just hope one day soon we can make finals and play like that. Signing an experienced, proven defensive coach is a priority, almost as much as signing a goal kicker.

What I understand is our roster is no where near as good as the Sharks roster pretty easy actually ,it is about time for a reality check ….a large proportion of our roster are reserve graders posing as NRL standard players and Flanagan is a quality coach certainly something the Tigers do not have.

I saw Heighno run over Papali. I don't know what our problem is.

I do. We have Aaron Woods as our enforcer and leader. Not Paul Gallen. Even though he didn't play last night and I don't particularly like him, he sure as hell sets a standard that others rise to.

Woods is the best young prop in the country. What is your problem?

:bash

Whoops….your bias is beginning to show Col

We have at a least half a team of reserves.
Rankin, Kev, Lawrence, and take your pick of our forwards.
Grant went from go to whoa in a fortnight. Edwards is brain dead it's just painful to watch.

Cronulla are a squad on there own in this comp. They are unique and I feel it stems from grassroots culture from within the area.

Granted they buy players as much as the other top teams, but you only need to spend a day down at the Gymea Gorillas to see the beauty of their never say die attitude. Every player buys into the area and its culture. Players like Graham [not a junior] will attend junior games every week simply to cheer the kids on to give them spirit.

The Cronulla Sharks are a Football Club from grassroots to NRL. Thats why they are different to us!

Thats interesting. I like it.

You seem to forget how many floggings this Cronulla team endured under Flanagan. Most of you would of had him sacked well before he built a competitive team.

Hasler's puppies LOL

All bark and no bite !
Having Hopoate missing due to his beliefs didn't help there cause .

So didn't he pray for his team when he was at church? And how come God didn't help his team?

Maybe the Penrith Supporters prayed harder??

Apart from Teddy we have players who have a good sporadically. We hardly ever see everyone have good ones on the same day.
The difference between out bad days and the good ones can be enormous
We need players who can play, especially in defence, on a more consistent basis

That would go some way to explaining their consistent record of success and bulging trophy room.

They got 3-4 into every tackle for 80 minutes. Maloney never got isolated 1-1.

Good point. The Tigers' apparent inability to give the halves defensive support is possibly the biggest condemnation of the defensive coaching of the lot. Brooks and Moses should both be better defenders, but regardless of that they shouldn't be put in a position to miss seven or eight tackles a game.

Great to see you back offering opinion as fact, magpiecol. I don't care how old he is, Woods is not within the top 8 props in the country. But, he is the best we have. And, that's the point of my post. But, it could have been too subtle for you to work out.

In fairness the Sharks only have one massive defensive liability in their line so it's pretty obvious where they're going to need to man up in support. I think more teams playing the Sharks should switch their point of attack around Maloney - Canberra for example should have had support runners coming off Junior Paulo as he targeted Maloney. This plan though assumes Junior Paulo can pass, which is something I've not seen evidence of…
