What's everyones thoughts on this column in Tiger Talk this week?
**Ideal opportunity for change ignored**
In the past, I’ve been critical of Tim Sheens’ usual ploy of picking an outside back to sit on the interchange bench.
Against the Broncos on Friday, I saw why Sheens likes to have someone able to fill in for one of the flyers of the back line.
He just didn’t use him.
Fullback Tim Moltzen was as good as injured out there — his confidence was shot.
He didn’t want to attack the ball, and when he did, there was a fumble, or a knock-on.
It was the perfect opportunity to send in the outside back, and not have him wasted for the usual 70 minutes of the game, and then bring him on when the result is finalised or expect him to be the change the team needs to win the game.
Like most Tigers fans, I am a huge supporter of coach Sheens.
Sheens is entitled to take much of the credit for the team’s grand final success in 2005 and the terrific performances of the past few seasons.
However, it was obvious to many watching the match that Moltzen wasn’t on his game. Sheens should have replaced him with Sean Meaney, who is a fullback by trade. It would not have caused any harm and would have given Moltzen a chance to regroup and re-enter the game later on.
