I wouldn't hesitate an instant. Ever since he got there he has been doing as well as you could hope from anyone.
I love when the club doesn't mess about and signs key personnel like they did with brooks, etc. last year. A little harder with woods and tedesco but Potters vision is already showing it's worth and they should give him the best deal they can.
I have to say though, the turnaround has in large part been due to the forwards and I'd really like to know how pivotal kidwell (and maybe payten) has been. Not downplaying potter at all because he's the one who got him! Another very astute move.

before today i've thought this is a guy that can rebuild the club and take us to a top 8 or top 6 finish but was always unsure as to whether he can win us a premiership.
today has given me a lot of confidence that he does have what it takes.
but still, wait till at least the end of the origin period before resigning him. 2 year contract again for him, increased salary of course.

Based on the impact of Richards, Tapau and Gavet alone he deserves another 2 years right now.
He's done more for us in less than 18 months than Shane Flanagan has done at the Sharks in 3 and a half years. He's got us firing better than the Knights even though they have a boganaire owner and the "World's Best Coach".
We've started this season as good as anyone. We've knocked over 3 of the biggest packs in the comp with minimal fuss. We've scored more points than any other team. We've never played in a match thus far without at least having the lead at some point. We always start well, errors are down, completions are up, everyone looks fit, everyone is playing for each other.
Get him on paper. He's earned it already.

I think it comes back to our financial position because coaching costs are essentially paid through revenue generated by the club excluding the NRL grant.
What revenue have we budgeted? Given the expected development of this team, surely we will beat budget.
How much of a burden is the loan from NRL? This would be netted out of the NRL grant so are we under the cap or are we spending to the cap and hence, other parts of the business are topping up salaries?
Once we have a clearer financial picture, then the club can think about resigning Potter. It's a delicate balancing act, because if we continue to win, Potter's market value will increase.

if it was my decision,i would also have access to the books to see how much dead money we are still carrying from past mistakes and the real culture past and present.

Potter has taken all the criticism without any negative reaction. He has shown that he is a geniune coach, sincere and goes about his business quietly even though under plenty of stress. I was one of those wanted him to be removed after the first match, but he has shown that he deserves to be retained. To be fair to him, I first thought of 2 years, now I think 3 is better to ensure that his dream been realised, so is ours, that the WT wins another premiership.
Even if we don't make the eight I would resign him. Why?
1\. He inherited a mess last year and was on a hiding to nothing. He gave incumbents an opportunity to prove their worth and earn a place in his system. Players that didn't meet his requirements were moved on. I am not sad to see Lote, Benji, Reddy, Ayshford or Bell moved on;
2\. Players key to our success have grown under him. Sheens sent players backwards, under Potter we have seen Tedesco improve markedly, particularly in support play, Blair has improved dramatically this year, Farah & Anasta look more effective this year and Taupau, Gavet, Sue, Seumanufagai & Simona all look the goods under Potter's supervision also;
3\. The Dragons game is the only game where we have shown genuine weakness. I refuse to count the Warriors game as we lost two guys in the first 30 mins to concussion and finished off the poorer side due to a backline shuffle and finishing the game with one man on the bench. We have dominated Souths, Manly and the Titans as well as having the wood on the Warriors until the injuries hit;
4\. Potter learns from his mistakes. He benched Farah last year against Manly. They subsequently got on top of us. Farah hasn't been benched since. Richards was out of his depth at the back after Teddy went off. Nofo was moved to the back this week and looked far better. Sheens persisted with Marshall at half for years, centres at five-eighth, second rowers at prop. Common sense coaching has been persisted with here and when things don't work, they aren't revisited. It's a fresh change.
5\. Our style of footy. Uncompromising and stylish. We're beginning to look like bullies up front, shutting other packs out of the game and frustrating the backs, all the while still being able to move the ball with flair. It's a much more welcome balance than previous years.
Give him a two year contract on better dollars. If we improve again next year, I would approach him for a further one year extension.

I'd resign him. I think it is evident by both looking at the players demeanour on the field and listening to the players talking, even after losses, that there has been a significant change in culture. The team is truly a team as Manly found out yesterday. The team that Potter built.
The rebirth of Robbie Farah is all about the philosophy of Coach Potter and his coaching technique , Farah could actually rise as one of the great hookers of the game under Potter…no one will tell me the Coach hasn,t got his mark all over this team ! Things will get tough and probable soon as injuries to some key players take effect.
But anybody that has followed this club for some time and Footy in General can feel the changing tide that Coach Potter has bought to the club,top coaches are hard to find don,t leave signing him to long as the vultures will start circling ....this coach will take the Weststigers to another premiership I feel it in my bones.
