If you were told definitively…

The other thread about what still keeps you invested got me thinking. And it made me think of a more direct question. If you were told definitively that finals were years away. Say someone came back in time from 2035 and told you we still haven’t played finals, would you stick around? Its an interesting question, because while you might think there’s no chance we won’t play finals before then, who would have thought at the end of 2011, coming off two top 4 finishes, that we wouldn’t play finals for at least the next 15 years. So what’s another 5-10 years? Would you bother sticking around? I guess it’s the hope and blind faith that keeps whoever hasn’t walked away already still rusted on.

I'm coming back in time from 2035 to tell you we haven't made the finals.

I've followed wests since 1959. Haven't been that keen since the merger, but I will persevere I guess.

Right now I’d accept 9th place is out of our reach forget about finals football.

If we had a few seasons finishing 9th and 10th I’d be ecstatic.

I just want a team that competes. Our team right now has NO fight.

It’s in my blood, I’d need a transfusion.

This is a great question…..I think if my current self went back in time to tell the 2012 version of me we wouldn’t make finals I’d still support the club.

But I’d say if someone from 10 years in the future and told me now I wouldn’t.

My views have changed so dramatically. I used to think that the club folding would be the worst thing possible now I see it as an act of kindness.

Would I rather win one grandfinal once every 10-15 years. Or be in the finals 70% of the time but never win a grand final?

this is something i have pondered for a while (look at my signature) and i really don't know the answer to the question, it's a tough one

One GF win every 15 years > making the finals and getting knocked out for sure

It's like asking would you rather eat once every five days, or would you like to smell the food everyday for 5 days and not eat lol
