I'm from the magpies half of the merger, and I say thank God it IS at Leichhardt. You could have 30,000 at ANZ and it wouldn't come close to the atmosphere of 18,000 at LO.

The NRL draw was released on October 25 (2018) last year. These events take months of planning, and people plan months in advance to go to games like these. The logistics of moving a game is crazy. Such a stupid post.

Calm down fool. Games can be moved quite easily, especially if the other venue is free.

For the record I didn't create this post because of sour grapes at not getting a ticket. I just think we are more of a chance at ANZ with a bigger crowd.

I remember in 2005 when we had the prelim final vs Dragons in the stadium fitting 40k, and Cowboys and Eels had the one seating 80k. They should have swapped those two games, but didn't/ wouldn't/ couldn't.

It makes no sense to me to even want to move this game to a place which isn't really our home turf. We do that too much anyway.

Playing at Leichhardt Oval!
I lived for 15 years in Brisbane during the 80's and 90's. I used to take my eldest son, who was born in Brisbane, to Lang park to watch the tigers every time they played the broncos. Just us, and a few dozen others in our tigers beanies, amongst a sea of broncos supporters.
He was only about 7 years old when, on a visit to Sydney to stay with Pa and Grandma, I took him out to see the tigers at a match at Leichhardt oval. The crowd was huge and vocal and 90% tigers supporters. I remember at the end of the game (which we won) my son was smiling but had tears streaming down his face. When I asked him what the matter was, he just said, "I never knew there was that many other tigers supporters".
Now I'm in Melbourne and I'll be watching the game on Sunday. My son is coming over to watch it with me and he's bringing his kids.
Bring it on. I couldn't think of a better place to play the game

Love your post. I’m feeling melancholy because on Saturday night we celebrate my sons 18th and 21st. Wow! It was like yesterday I took them to Leichhardt as toddlers. We went to the footy together for years. Then slowly, they drifted away. We still go together but not as much and rarely the three of us.
But their passion has been reignited and on Sunday, recovering from a party, we will be there together- the three of us, cheering the Tigers to victory. (A child arrived just the other day...came to the world in the usual way..............)
