In all fairness

While there is no excuse for today's game, reality is Nofo & Simona will offer so much to the team on their return and so will Siro, Galloway & Halatau. All is not lost, even though it ain't pretty. Brooks needs time, Patty has goal kick covered. Throw in Woods, Farah, Teddy & Taupua there are positive signs. Ava and Sue are also progressing along with Gavet, it's looking good. The problem is the rest, solve this, problem solved.

The entire team has no defensive attitude, a few players back will make zero difference.

Don't forget the Dragons had a few of their own players missing today also, including their #1 attacking weapon Josh Dugan, and they still put 44 points on us.

Also, how do you get a positive out of Farah's game today? It was possibly the worst I have ever seen him play…

I'm not comparing today's teams.

The momentum of this game changed when Liam Fulton was injured. :frowning:
I cannot see the difference to the way we played last season (I know it' s early days) but penalties, and bad defence still seem to be the order of the day. :bash

The bright side is we have Pat Richards who is a fantastic kicker of the ball and James Tedesco, who was singularly quite brilliant :stuck_out_tongue: some of the forwards still leave an awful .lot to be desired, we need to improve 100% :sign:

We showed we could score points today, that not the problem.

Same thing every damned year. Take the football away from these blokes for the next month and hammer them with defensive drills….like you told us you did all summer. After that effort, I simply do not believe we concentrated on defence over the break.

We are finished, just relocate elsewhere and let someone else has a go.The way the players played out there today, we might as well packed up and go home.

I agree with you 100% but these aren't kid footballers, surely they should know how to tackle by now? Fark as a kid my old man used to run at me close to full speed and I got bumped off and belted a lot but when it came to the game nobody got past me and I only ended up being a bum A grade park player. It was always tackle, tackle, tackle - no tries. These blokes have no pride in their jumper it is as simple as that.

IT IS ONLY ROUND 1!

Who is keen to be a spectator for the following rounds? Not me, especially V Souths in round 3\. No team attitude no team followers that's the reality.

it might seem like a massive excuse but with farah and woods, the heart of middle defence, wouldn't have trained with the main squad all week it is easy to see why the communication was lacking. players like brooks, farah and fulton didnt have a full pre season and only started doing all contact sessions for the last month. things are going to take time obviously the attitude wasn't right in defence and there are no excuses but all is not lost after one game

How did we show we could score points

Two tries we had no visible angle seeing the ball even touching the ground ,one was from an error and one was well earned

Our attack looked like we were playing in gumboots in wet cement

Our ruck defence was poor and on too many occasions we had forwards having to make one on one tackles

We have no idea how to control the ruck and we got beaten up by one of the smallest packs in the NRL

If the only positive we can take out of today was patty Richards kick offs we have issues

Shouldn't we be focussing on Patty have the lease amount of kick offs as possible , not 9

Thats right, we have to endure another 25 weeks.

23 GNR ,thankfully we have two byes based on today

I will give them the benefit of the doubt after today , but another performance like today's next Sunday and the boot will be laid in

im keen to turn up again, even after enduring the heat in a poor result today.

unfortunately i work evenings, so wont be able to come until another arvo game or monday night.

it's round 1, this forum needs to stop over reacting. during trials it was predictions of 6th and 7th, now it's wooden spoon. We win next week by more than 4 and you can bet it'll be back to top 8 predictions. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Roosters are equal 2nd last with us, they will not be there in round 26\. I don't see why we should either. We can do better, and I think we will. For all we know, the dragons could finish 4th this year and we got trounced by a very good side. (and to be fair, they played extremely well and deserved that win thoroughly)
