Indigenous All Stars do not sing the National Anthem

I can see why. It's the anthem of the white Australian and subsequent immigrants that followed.

But they will want to represent Australia and their state

Can't have it both ways

Why not? I didn't hear any of them say that they aren't Australians.

Yeah and I didn’t hear them sing the Australian anthem

I don't have an issue with that, our anthem is outdated, does not represent indigenous people in the way it should and should be updated or replaced.

Ahh . . . this ties in with Mal " what did Rugby League ever give me " Maninga's article on nrl.com About the need to change the anthem. Didn't offer an alternative, didn't offer a specific reason.
Babbled on about how the Kiwi's have theirs in 2 languages . . . but how that wouldn't work for us because there are hundreds of indigenous dialects. After reading it, I was none the wiser what the heck he was on about.
But I did feel politically corrected somewhat.

IMHO if you pull on the Australian jersey you sing the anthem no matter what it is

Even the Kiwi's want theirs changed I don't blame them basically sounds like its begging for help from god and England. The only good part is the Maori verse.

I love the Kiwi anthem!

And you don't consider that to be grossly disrespectful to Australia, and all Australians ?
My folks migrated here in the 50's and their lot don't get a mention in the anthem, but they wouldn't even consider to not sing the anthem where appropriate.
It was pathetic to not sing the anthem because of some political statement. Unpatriotic.

Do you think if they play for Australia they should sing the national anthem (what ever it may be, I really don't care what is is)

I can't see what is disrespectful to the indigenous on our anthem. There's no mention on my convict relatives in there either, should I be making a stand?

This appears to me to be yet another example of us following the (poor) example of the Americans. Not singing the anthem was our version of NFL players 'taking a knee'. I couldn't think of two worse advocates for this cause than Mundine or Meninga. Mundine is just seeking headlines and Meninga is hardly a deep thinker on anything. Personally I don't like our anthem either and would be happy if we could find one that indigenous Australians could support but there are ways of doing things and disrespecting the anthem is not a good way to go about it.

It really s.hits me that the indigenous players use the game of Rugby League to push their political views .

To be honest I don't see it as disrespectful. I will also state that immigrants are mentioned in the National anthem, so that point is factually untrue.
