Seeing how dirty Thurston was on himself for missing his 1st kick at goal shows exactly what a great competitor he is. Hope WT management were watching, it is in direct contrast to our "we're not here to win anything" attitude. Chalk n cheese.

Am I the only one who thinks the whole concept is absurd? To create any sort of emotion about the game is to create segregation. And it's massively stacked against the world team, they get a mashup of the fans favourite player from each team whereas the indigenous team get to carefully look at each position and the team as a whole. Then they get to show pride in their jersey whereas any world team member who came out and said they were proud to be white would be crucified as racist. It just doesn't add up. At a time when we have had race riots and such I would think more segregation is the last thing this country needs!
Plus if Gus likes it that should be reason enough to scrap it.

I think the indigenous round does a much better job at celebrating indigenous culture.

I think you will find that the world team is chosen from players who volunteer to co-operate with the concept because they sympathise with the Indigenous players and want to help make a day of it.

The best non-indigenous players don't want to play in this game. The NRL needs to find an opponent that has something to play for.

Yep. Find an opponent that has something to play for and actually cares about the result of the game. The game in it's current format is an embarrassment and absolute waste of time.
NZ Maori, a combined Tonga/Samoa team (not sure what banner they would play under though) or perhaps PNG would all be opponents that would play with plenty of pride and committment. The PNG team would get lapped though.
