Ins and Outs

Hope Dene has another year with us. I liked his comments re Robbie

Me too. I've always liked Dene. Was disappointed when the club let him go last time.
A good all round player and a decent man.
Doesn't fake anything. An honest man. Calls a spade a spade.

No one of name will come to the club while Taylor is coach.

I think there is an element of truth in this statement. Regardless of JT, while we are perceived to be a rabble, it will be difficult to attract marquee style players.

If controversy can be avoided in 2016, then I believe we are a chance of some real talent joining the roster in 2017.

I think the question remains, can JT get us moving harmoniously in 2016?

No one of name has come to the club from another NRL club since Blair

Taylor isn't the issue

The club is

True dat….
Count on your fingers the players of note that have joined the club since we won the Comp...

You have to remember any marquee player gets offers from lots of clubs so for a team that is struggling or is located in a geographical area that is not as desirable as others, will have to pay massive overs to even get a nibble and that is the problem we will face till we can earn some respect out there in the NRL world. At present things are pretty low,but with Teddy,Moses,Brooks,Sirro and Woods things will turn around. People put way to much emphasis on the coach,if you want success it is about everyone in the club pulling together in the same direction from the board down to the playing group

In Happy's case 3 Ice Creams….

Seriously though ...the Wests Tigers have hardly ever attracted 'Marque signings' any success we have had has been built on a junior base with solid journey men type players....

We have developed a Marque or 2 though...

Ellis.

Which NRL club did he come from and even then how many seasons ago was that ??

7 years ??

Still we got him and we got Blair. I am not having a go at Taylor or the club for our signings record. I think if we keep and sign the right players we can have an extremely competitive team.

That's right,
Done here at Wests Tigers we are still trying to operate under the salary cap. For some reason we've never heard of TPA's. Until we do what very other club has been doing for the last decade, we'll never attract anyone half decent. It all comes down to money !

Wow
Man….
You're a genius!!
You came up with 1 decent player we've signed in 11 years - 1 that no one had heard of and was untested in NRL.
Thanks for reiterating my exact point.
This club can't attract good players...
Regardless of coach, ladder position and standing!!

We have signed a number of 'big name players' e.g. Hill, McCracken, Hapoate, O'Harra, Settler, Ellis, Payton, Taquiri, Blair, Prince but unfortunately except Ellis, Payton, Prince and in some extent Blair that wasn't money well spent. :frowning:
There are a number of clubs that signed marquee players e.g. Parramatta, Titans
etc. but in nearly every case that was a waste of money (e.g. Sandow, Idris ).
On the other Storm never signed any marquee player.
Go figure

A marquee or two? Off the top of my head

Benji
Farah
Woods
Taupau
Tedesco
Ellis
Fafita
Teo

Addo-carr currently playing in the indigenous knock out tournament on NITV. Scored the first try. Has some pace.

Figure of speech ..young Milky…ask your English teacher....

We've done the development Club pretty much since inception...as I pointed out any success we have had has been built on this...We could go down the path of trying to buy a Premiership although that to is met with minimum success...

Developing players from within sprinkled with solid players works...given the in's and outs 2016 can be a successful one...

Yep. I just don't see why we need to sign big name players. It is a massive hit and miss.
