Is The Club Respected?

Some of the comments here lamenting the loss of Shane Richardson have me shaking my head.

The bloke just repeated the same old pattern, paid overs for a washed up player, leaving very little else to go around.

Yesterday's result was ample evidence. Copping 70 and not looking remotely close to pressuring the opposition. despite the guys trying hard says it all.

It may be even worse though, Richo was actively involved in assembling this roster to a degree that is rare.

At least the previous mob stuck around and faced the music. This bloke talked about crocodile rolls and then buggered off when things got tough,
That’s a safe bet isn’t it? Blaming someone who is no longer here.
Was he getting accolades for results in the first 8 games?
Benji said he is going to look into it.
Good coaches look into it well before the kick off.

I'm not really into speculation or conspiracy theories.

All we really know is that he resigned and we're seeing the results from a roster that he helped build.
The roster is in a far better position now than it was pre shane richardson and that was in just 2 seasons.

Fingers have been pointed at richo, pascoe, sheens, ivan, madge, Taylor, potter, benji as player, robbie, moses (both of them). it's always someone else's fault... How about we look for the real issue instead of pointing fingers at scapegoats?

Who's ultimately responsible for the club not making the semis for 14 years?

Well ..that’s an extremely low base to come off,,.. one of the worst teams ever that “won” three wooden spoons in a row,,,. 2 years later the squad is clearly still not good enough…

Things seem pretty relaxed about changing things up with the squad…we got Averillo ( not confirmed ) and ….? If Benji is being stymied , which you appear to be insinuating, is he happy just to go on and collect his large paycheck in the meantime whilst not much changes ?

How could anyone be expected to turn the club around in just 2 years? 30 players are contracted to the club. A ceo cant come in and break 15 contracts without implications to the salary cap.

The fact we were headed in the right direction is an indicator that he was doing something that those before him could not achieve

And they haven’t …not even close ….

What will change next year with just Averillo coming on board ?

Which players do you want to move on ? They have about 23 players under contract next year so are you looking to free up money?

It’s time for the club to make a radical change.
What good are multi season player contracts when players can break them ?
There were 7 players who threatened to leave if Benji was sacked. They would have only done this if Benji’s job was under threat.
It’s time to sign players for shorter terms. Only one or two seasons.
If players don’t want to be there they can go with the clubs blessing.
We’ve had so many players leave unceremoniously kicking and screaming on the way out.
With short contracts players are always playing for another contract.

It’s probably not that simple …. The players have the whip hand at the moment .. clubs will be more inclined to offer a year more than a year less to get the deal done

What will this achieve exactly? How does this change a 68-0 scoreline? Sorry for my ignorance

If the rumours about signing a 37 year old who has not played NRL for many years as a stop gap player is accurate how could anybody possibly believe we are respected?
HBG are the biggest and most useless cretins of all time,no wonder the Magpies never won a title under their leadership (their premierships were b4 HBG took over).

Don’t be so hard on yourself mate, we’re all just trying to put the pieces together in the dark.
The team that put the 68 on us puts big dollars into junior development, they stay together throughout their career. Did Luai cry when he told his Tigers teammates he was going to Bears on big dollars?

They were also saying that after a good start to the season. Recruiters can’t counteract these injuries. We all know we need better depth.

Respect is earned not built on media fluff pieces.

All the great work the side started with is gone and totally undone by how we have handled things the last few weeks. We aren’t even competitive. We haven’t learnt anything and we aren’t better.

We don’t play as a team, we have no leadership & our squad is lower half of the table quality.

We have a decent when fully fit top 13 that can contend against most teams but the next 10-20 are garbage who would struggle to make any other clubs top 20.

NRL is built on squads not a perfect dream run.
Our next player up mentality is shocking it’s like they don’t know what to do or train in a totally separated environment. How they got their deals beats me.

Benji talked often early on about culture and players changing - well we have seen that his coaching staff just haven’t hit the mark & that the standards aren’t on pace with nrl expectations.

No one respects this club. Not the players, the board, the owners or the greater NRL community. They're a joke and everyone is laughing at them, including a good section of their own fan base. Just glad the Broncos let the Dragons break the duck so we didn't have to deal with the circus that would have brought compounding the train wreck this season has become.

Top 17 is a good line up but there are clearly a few linchpins in this team that the form line nosedives when they are out. Depth is lacking just about everywhere and we have a captain walking out on the club apparently setting standards.

My dad is personal friends with one of the broncos origin players and the sentiment about going into a game is true, he told my dad the whole squad was certain they would win even with their injuries like we were a second rate side and wanted to turn up and beat us
Can you please check whether that was their problem against the Dragons and Titans

Odds probably against us at this stage. Next 2 weeks are huge and might well be decisive. 2 good wins at home and this game is a distant memory into a decent run home with Doueihi, May and then Sam Fainu and Twal back on board if its coming to the wire.

Need some luck but we are a chance. Api out next week is a real kick in the guts
We are gone, to many players out injured,
We will lose to Titans, and Dolphins.

HOPE IM WRONG,

But I cant see us getting up off the mat unless we get our full compliment of players back.

FINGERS CROSSED.

The lack of respect for the club from players and managers is the very reason we have to pay more to attract players, settle for players that are more risk than reward all barriers for building a squad and expansion is only going to make that more challenging.
Benji is the only thing that is holding this club together and if he fails there will be very little appeal to come to this club given its history and current governance.
