Is Tim Sheens good enough

well its tim sheens responsibility for the flash stuff. like i said we need to go to the next level now - winning games that we should win - tim sheens must do it - he is the coach - i mean who gets sacked first if the kangaroos lose the upcoming tour. We need to find consistancy and that should be our goal in 2012\. Its time for change.

One word - Yes!

Take G Stewart, Lyon, Hoppa out of Manly for most of the year and they don't come fourth like we did

:righton: This ^^
Given the injuries to some of the most important players in our team, and Tim and the team did great this year. Bring on 2012!

I guess one of the measures of the worth of the coaches in the NRL is the position that their team finishes. I was astounded to be told that Wests Tigers were the only team to finish in the top four in 2010 and 2011! Therefore, I assume Tim Sheens IS one of the best coaches around.

I should not comment on this thread.. tim sheens has screwded us for 5 years ..I cannot stand him..

Really? 2010 that bad huh? And the players take no responsibility for it,
But your right bout one thing.

Hard to be consistent with the type of footy he has us playing, its all revolving around Benji.

He & Farah are senior players now, they should be at the forefront when cool heads are needed but at times they still go the long shot when its not needed

The question I ask is the flashy stuff is what eventually broke us…..but is it what makes us as well?

My answer would be a real number 7 who is allowed to run the game he sees in front of him.

Yes he can…..just a bit of luck this year at the end and we would have made 2 gfinal qualifiers in a row and i think we would have made it.storm we very flat against the warriors.

well, i know one thing for sure, bellamy certainly is good enough, he's in the U.S right now on a training/coaching/football camp. He wants the latest technology. He is the Steve Jobs of NRL coaches.

I believe our failures have been primarily due to the immaturity shown by Robbie Farah and Benji Marshall. How many times to you think Tim has said to them "when we are ahead with 5 to go, slow it down and kick to the corners".

These boys are the heart of our team - in attack. We can blame Lote for not taking the ball in the Warriors game, or Tim Moltzen for not placing his hand on Inu, but if Rob and Benj learnt how to "control" the game we would be a much more consistent team. We should never have been in that position.

I am sure Sheens would have tried to drum this into these guys over and over, and I think it is the main reason that Robbie isn't selected for Origin.

I agree tiger smurf, we should change our names to st george tigers, we have chocked two years in a row for dumb play, first againest the roosters yes it was a penalty but jump on the ball the second againest the warriors, last tackle two mins to go and you run the ball on the last in your own half when your ahead by two, that play went threw three pairs of hands that can kick a ball….. you kick the ball in touch we make the gf in my opinion.,,, not sheens fault the players chocked when needed to do the standard non flashy plays that win you games!!!

Well let's give him a few years without a team heavily influenced by a period of intense salary cap rorting (which I still to this day believe he was aware of).

Sheens is good enough, we just need to play a little smarter and I think Blair will help add to this.

i dont know about you guys, will sheens consider, would you consider, that given that john grant has the chance to play and he's never played rugby league before, then utai should be afforded the opportunity to audition for amongst our forward pack. His bulldozing runs that he makes out of our half are priceless. How many players does it take to tackle utai on average per game? No he's not the world's best winger - however we have other options in 2012 on the wing, but he plays with passion and he has an edge. He could be our night watchman for simon dwyer.

Yeah I think matt is well worth having in the squad for this very reason.

I reckon he would be best played off the bench - 15 minutes at the end of each half and the ability to play in the backs if required.

The thing that I liked about Matt in 2011 is that he always seemed to be talking on the field he's great to have their for experience as well.

but do you think tim sheens will think the same way?

Probably not, he will probably be on the wing come round one 2012 with Beau Ryan on the bench

Is Tim Sheens good enough? Just as importantly, will we have a team that is good enough? The answer to the second question is difficult to answer without knowing who will be our half back and who will be our fullback. Both positions are very important as we know and so depending which players end up in those positions will influence whether our team is good enough in its own right. Lesser players in those positions doesn't necessarily mean that the team isn't good enough but it will certainly put pressure on sheens and the senior players which then influences results. In a way this will also influence the answer to whether Sheens is good enough as a coach, in his ability to get the team up with say Miller at half and someone like Reddy at fullback- I only use them as examples of 'new' players in those positions for WTs. Another indication of whether Sheens is good enough will be how he goes coaching Australia at the 4 nations. People have referred to having good cattle well he has a pretty good herd at the moment so his results will provide feedback on his form as a coach.
