Is Wests Tigers '10 better than '05....

I think the 2010 team has the greater potential all over the park than the 2005 team…in saying that the 2005 team had a marvelous run at the back end and into the semis where they played out of their skins for the whole period...I reckon if the 2010 team fires across the park during the whole semis then we should be crowned **2010 premiers!**...wow that sounds nice!!!

Irrespective of the points everyone has made the 2010 side will always have the question mark over its head that it never played in a premiership with a fully competitive Melbourne Storm (i.e if the breaches weren't noticed.) If Melbourne were still in the hunt we may have seen a different outcome the other day at Leichhardt, and as it stands, Melbourne would still be in the top 8 based on the number of wins. I understand they've cheated, but them missing out I feel has tainted the premiership and essentially weakened the quality of competition this year.

I take the point re: Melbourne but the fact is if they had have had great results this year and beaten us last week they still would have done it with a side that is well over the salary cap…it would also be fair to say the last three seasons have been tainted by a team not playing on a level playing field. I for one feel cheated coming ninth so many times when Melbourne possibly shouldn't have been there at all.

This is true MGB, but there were five games in a row last season where we lost by 2 points or less. That was due to our inability to close out a game or hold the opposition out once we were in front. It is very easy to blame the Storm's cheating for us missing out on the eight for at least the last three years but in reality it was a poor mentality. The intent was always there to do well and that was evident, but that poor mentality was a major catalyst for our shortcomings. This I feel is where we are stronger this year, a more steeled resolve and attitude (especially in defence)has been key factor in our success.

But, in saying this, Manly beat a stacked Storm team 40-0 in 2008 (we even beat them at Leichhardt last year,) so they were very beatable and to have them still competing this year would have lifted the quality of competition and given us a more accurate picture of where we stood in relation to 2005, irrespective of Melbourne's cheating.
