Is Wood's a chance?

Pretty sure Daley had said somewhere Cordner was his unofficial 18th man previously . Be interesting now . As much as I think Woods should have been there in the first place, I also think Grant should have been, so that's where I would head.

i would have grant starting, gallen to lock and lewis on the bench.

the fact that they dont pick a utility to replace another utility shows that gidley is there on reputation only. just coz you have a player who can COVER all positions doesnt mean he MUST be there. idiotic theory

Very true , and luke Lewis can cover many positions . If all of us can see this , why can't the selectors !!

Looks like it will be Sutton which is good cos with Burgess gone it means Souths will be a little more depleted this week. Would be great to see their wheels fall off during the Origin period

inside word is that Boyd Cordner and Tariq sims are the two front runners close followed by grant, carney and woods. heard it first from me !!

My close sources inside the blues camp said that Tariq sims will be called up…............or Aaron Woods, or Boyd Cordner, or Tim Grant, or Todd Carney, or John Sutton, Willie Mason, Wade Graham, Aiden Tolman, Tim Mannah, Nathan Merrit, Alan Tongue or ................................, no I think that was it. Remember who got you the inside scoop guys!!!!!

Surely they have a formula and that was the reason they picked Gidley in the first instance?

With that being the case, I'd say Carney, followed Sutton.

The side should have always been

1\. Hayne
2\. Ferguson
3\. Morris
4\. Jennings
5\. Morris
6\. Maloney
7\. Carney
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Tamou
11\. Bird
12\. Lewis
13\. Gallen

14\. Mason
15\. Fifita
16\. Grant
17\. Sims/Hoffman

if they go with a utility on the bench i would like to see carney given the shot. carney has played in the 1, 6 and 7 and with hayne out the back you can cover every position in the backs easily and maloney covers hooker so that would be the smart option IF they want a utility. personally i would go grant though big boy who has experienced this level before. also any truth to the rumour lewis wont play could increase woods chances but cordners name has also been thrown around and dont rule out tariq either

Tariq Sims was good last year, but he has offered nothing this year to warrant a call up, imo. Grant should never have been dropped - he was good in Origin last year and he has been playing well in a team on fire this season. The selectors are idiots! Why they feel the need to always find a place for the very mediocre Gidley, at the expense of a decent metre eating prop, is beyond me. Daley has the same mentality as Stuart and Sheens - selecting a light mobile pack and utility on the bench to tire out Queensland's big boppers - because that's worked so well in the past hasn't it? :unamused: IDIOTS!

Woodsy will have to play a few good games, for any selectors to forget about the South's match. No West tigers came out smelling good. Woodsy will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself for the rest of the year.

He has more than proven himself over the past 18 months. If the selectors are going to omit him because of ONE bad game, then they're idiots! Many others before him have been given much more grace.
