Wests Tigers would like to clarify media reports regarding Robbie Farah’s future with the Club.

Farah met with Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe today with details of those conversations set to remain confidential.

Farah still has two years left on his contract with the Club, with reports of a new playing contract being offered to him incorrect.

Justin Pascoe said that the Club would continue to work with Farah and his management regarding his playing future with Wests Tigers.

Wests Tigers will not accept terms within any release that puts the Club in further financial risk and will strive to create an environment that allows all players, including Farah, to thrive.

“We will continue to work closely with Robbie and his management to come up with an agreement that meets the needs of both parties,” said Pascoe.

“Robbie still has two years left on his playing contract with Wests Tigers and at this stage remains a part of the Club’s plans for the 2016 season.

“We are looking at a number of options with Robbie, including what role he may play with Wests Tigers once he finishes his playing career,” he said.

“Robbie is approaching 250 games with Wests Tigers and any Club would be open to having a player of that experience involved in an Ambassador role after their retirement.

“We are committed to building a successful and sustainable Wests Tigers both on and off the field and this will be taken into account when a decision regarding Robbie’s future with the Club is made,” he said.

Anyway Pascoe makes sense

We cant be paying 700-800 Grand a year to have one of our best players play elsewhere

it is absurd surely

Manly are paying Ballin, he is under contract to them until the end of 2017, same year he comes off contract with us.

Just reading this again, Im wondering if a compromise isnt being looked at by Pascoe re: early retirement for Robbie end of 2016.
Meet halfway, play half your remaining contract and a nice cushy ambassador role for 2017 after becoming a one club/250 game player

“Robbie still has two years left on his playing contract with Wests Tigers and at this stage remains a part of the Club’s plans for the 2016 season.

He mentions two years on the contracts, but hes only in the clubs plans for season 2016?

“Robbie is approaching 250 games with Wests Tigers and any Club would be open to having a player of that experience involved in an Ambassador role after their retirement

.

Robbie is on 238 games so likely barring serious injury will hot 250 season 2016 if he stays.

Just a thought.

Thats what im thinking

The Ceo is looking from a dollars and sense point of view.

Get the 2 children in a room and tell them to get on with it in the best interest of the club.

Robbie is no longer captain so why cant taylor just forming his own side anyway with new leaders.

Maybe 2016 can be Robbie's last unless he gives up origin in 2017.

We cant afford to have our SOO rep being paid 700-800 to play elsewhere.

Like I said it makes no sense and Taylor needs to maybe accept this is unsatisfactory and Robbie giving up the captaincy is maybe an agreement met halfway.

His entire salary? We're getting him for $0 for both years?

No,we have got him for cheap though.

Via press release He is telling other clubs if they are interested in Farah they need to get serious about offering fair compensation, otherwise he will play for us.

At the same time they are saying to farah's management how about taking $500k per season for the next 4yrs, 2 of which we pay when you are retired.

All these details were supposed to remain confidential but farah'sfarah's management continues to play games. Anyone who thinks Farah is interested in anything other they himself is kidding…..

Love it that Robbie Gets out of the Meeting with the Tigers with his Manager and channel 9 are sitting there waiting for him.
Who would tell them the meeting was taking place, And why….

Robbie is playing the innocent victim, HE and his manager have played this out in the press form the start.... Trying to gather support. It's a joke - What chance are you of getting what you want, When you're making it harder than it needs to be...
All of this should be done behind closed doors - Makes me laugh the same guys going through the same business at Manly... Nothing is known until it is released.
DONE!!

This is where the club stuffed up. If Taylor wanted to pull a move like this he needed to do it last March when clubs had cap space. But no, they started losing and Taylor pulls this move in July….

They thought Robbie would be picked up easy and everyone would get over it no matter how shabby some see it. Clearly they pulled a move like this too late in the piece and the damage it has caused is terrible really.

All their getting though is little bites of clubs offering 100K that leave the Tigers in a terrible financial position. One they cannot accept.

Nothing is known until released?

Foran?

Cherry Evans?

Hasler?

Lets be real now.

None of those players were in the position that Farah is in… Ballin was, And while there were whispers - There was nothing solid and definitely not a media circus at every interval!!!

Even now Manly are still trying to shift contracted players - Hiku has been told he'll be playing reserves if he stays apparently. Ballin was in the exact same position as Farah.
Pretty much every team in the competition is in the same boat; either trying to get targets released by another club, or trying to shop their own players to adjust their cap position. It's a by-product of the shoddy NRL CBA, and thus I can't see it changing any time soon.
