It's time to take the fight back to HBG

HBG is not the problem since the Richo debacle.

They have stayed out of footy operations and paid the bills. I suspect they will have to write a few more cheques to prop up the footy department coaching and administration we are inept.

If they bought out the Balmain share and put in an extra $5-10 million, would you still support the club?
As long as they are still called Wests Tigers i could not give a shit what color jersey they wear or where they play their home games. The caveat i make is get rid of that bloody debenture system at HBG or hire a fully independent board at WT and lock it into the constitution so it cant be blown up. It is ridiculous that the majority of the HBG board can only be chosen from 20 debenture holders, how the hell do you get the required skills in strategy and governance in a pool of 20ppl.

It doesn't hold any balance of power. Are you really arguing Balmain can influence decisions at board level?
They don't have a majority vote.

It's absolutely true that they wouldn't have the influence they used to in terms of numbers.

I do know from working with other boards that the ability to influence is tied to the ability to make stuff happen. If the Balmain rep can pull strings and make things happen, that's real influence.

But Balmain absolutely have a controlling say on "reserved matters" that need a unanimous vote. Stuff like booting the CEO and appointing a new one. Although I do not know if that's a reserved matter for our board.

Btw - is the Balmain rep on the board still Danny Stapelton? I had read someone claim that the the Barnier report had recommended he step aside. However this could be bullshit.

It's interesting, and I mean really interesting to look at the user names of some of the most vocal on this topic.
Tiger this, Tiger that. Balmain this, Balmain that. Avatars of Tigers. Avatars of Balmain jumpers.
A whole lot of hatred extremely over-represented by fans of one side of the merger.
Oh, sorry, my bad. There is no "Wests vs Balmain " nowadays.
We are one club. Obviously . . . just have a read over a few pages here. No division at all.

I was all in on the Wests v Balmain stuff till about 2016. Any mention was a red rag to a bull for me. But there finally came a point I just stopped caring. It had been 16 years. I still remember the moment that did it for me. I was reading a slanging match between two idiots on Facebook. One said to the other “At least Balmain never had a player dumb enough to have a seizure in the ocean and drown”. It made me think that’s the kind of intelligence you are arguing with. Now it’s 26 years, and people still get fired up over it. Unbelievable.

So you are applying maybes and possibles to our board because you have "worked with other boards"? Firstly, you misinterpret what reserved matters means...they do not have to be unanimous and normally they are not unless it is around something like debt, shareholder rights or some very serious like a change to core business...there are others but sacking a CEO would be almost unheard of to be a "reserved matter" requiring a unanimous vote.

Balmain has 1 vote of 8. If you think that adds up to anything other than tokenism, then let's end it here because you are grossly misinformed and you should not perpetuate bullshit that may get repeated.

I was not bringing up a wests vs Balmain point.

As a former magpies fan since the 1980’s, I am just pointing out that I have never experienced success supporting a club run by HBG.

Only that bloke turns it into W v B. Another low IQ HBG shill.

Sadly Wests are running the joint so by nature criticism will be at Wests. How can one criticise the owners without getting accused of stirring up Balmain v Wests?

Or is it one of those things where only Wests fans can have a say and Wests Tigers fans aren't allowed to say anything?

How these HBG shills can defend ownership when we've had

2022 - Spoon
2023 - Spoon
2024 - Spoon
2025 - 13th
2026 - 2nd last probably

Seriously get f×××××d

1. Does anyone know how many members there are at Wests Ashfield?
2. How much say do members have in the WA board selection?
3. If every Wests Tigers supporter could be convinced to join WA would there be sufficient numbers to influence a board vote?

Deluded. Low IQ.

Like most of our fans.

Our fans really are the dumbest in the league.
You can be quite intelligent at times but then you go and make attention seeking comments like these.

In terms of Richo, what helped most was that he didn't take HBG's shit. He didn't care about pleasing them and dictated rightly or wrongly where we go next.

I think it works short term but that type of leadership doesn't stay forever.

At the same time, that is what got Richo fired as well. You can't bite the hand that feeds you. Shaun M might be better at navigating the politics, but who knows?

What I know for sure is that now we have more money (maybe because of Richo or maybe even Lee H and Pascoe). The grant will increase and I know Shaun M has shown he can build a club from the ground up in another code.

HBG don't care about money because they can't have any. The old fossils probably just need validation and attention so they don't interfere too much. Let's hope Shaun can manage them.

Other than the firing of independents, the Galvin issue, Luai, Douehi- that's on us, not them.

It would be interesting to compare the Board Members of different clubs to see their experiences.

In an ideal world, the Board Members would help deal with conflict between the CEO, coach, Head of Football etc but more importantly have the right connections for sponsorships, stadiums and other ways of funding.

Ideally they should only be involvedin bringing money in, not in how it's spent.

Maybe these roles are outlined somewhere in some company's constitution but we will never know.

You can kick up a stink about having an unqualified Board and they'll just replace the 5 debunture holders with 5 of the other 15.

Replacing WA can't be the only way to be successful...

None of what I say is to seek attention. So you can shove that one firmly back up your arse.

Regarding your other opinions. They are simply your opinions and really don't hold much water in reality. You come across like you've got it all worked out, but what you miss is HBG agreed to an independent board and Richo came in on that basis.

What we have learned is that HBG cannot handle letting the club run independently. They must meddle, so frankly the club is doomed regardless of who we put in there.

They have a record of failure stretching from before you were born. They are just imposing that failure on every administration, coaching and playing group that we bring in.

What you have is youthful optimism. That is not the same as having a clue what you are talking about.

2 members can be chosen in elections, but they are a minority- i think 2 of 7 seats...they are token seats.

You'd never vote your way into power. It is a protectionist structure that cannot be changed by voting.
