It's time to take the fight back to HBG

This is so wrong.
NRL needs to take the licence off them and give it to someone who prioritises the nrl club.

Agree but we need to know who makes what decsions? I don't, do you? How did they vote?

What I'm asking is shouldn't the football club take more responsibility, the non HBG members?

Is it always the 5 HBG members making the incorrect vote?

That’s not public information. But if you have majority control then there HBG have their finger prints on it.

Have a look at the Wests appointees on the board (and Stapleton), no one wonder we are stuck in the mud!

The football club has borne the responsibility over the past 15 years, nothing has changed. HBG directors have been the only consistent factor and hold the only power. The independents are lame ducks.

If you take the time to look at their experience/connections and consider what they have done - blowing up the board, unwinding recommendations, their internal fighting, hiding in the shadows, other reports from ex-chairmen around board discussions. They are not at the level of other boards.

That's not a knock on them. I'm not experienced enough either. But I'm selfless enough that I would know that and step out of the way for the betterment of the club. Their ego will not let them do the same and that's their real failing.

If they won't re-implement the report, we need the NRL to step in to ensure the club is democratised so the best and brightest can lead us, like all our competitors do.

Yes, okay

AI says
Most Decisions are Unanimous
According to former Chairman Barry O'Farrell, voting data is rarely contentious because Wests Tigers football board meetings traditionally operate on consensus, meaning minutes usually reflect unanimous club decisions rather than divided tallies
He said this was the case when the board was independent and in response to why it made no sense that HBG sacked the independents.

Its the football club who make the decisions, granted with limited resources but they're the ones who should be copping more of the flak?

I think they didn't make the decsion about KOE, that was HBG but what else? Were they involved?

And this Mariners thing, how do we know it is at the detriment of the Wests Tigers? Are we just geusing? It looks like though because that money could be the WTs
How could it possibly benefit the Wests Tigers? Resources, opportunities, and money will be taken away from our club.

How about investing more in the NRLW and the NRL? The reality is that Wests Ashfield is in financial trouble, and they're looking at other avenues before it goes bust. No one plays the pokies anymore.

Unfortunately, the fans have watched HBG destroy the legacy of legendary Wests Magpies players like Keith and Bill, and our record proves it.

Yes, I totally agree.

Are they in financial trouble?

What about joining up with Cambo? Its hard to understand why they don't work much more closely?

That would make sense because the South West is our future until Leichhardt is redeveloped.

I don't understand why HBG has invested in APIA Leichhardt and now the Mariners women's team. I also don't understand why it has a debenture system or why Dennis Burgess is the chairman.

If you've been to Wests Ashfield lately, it's run-down and falling apart. It's also very clear that the demographic has given up on the leagues club. It's like walking into a sad retirement village.

The football club board has nothing to do with the hbg board.

Hbg have decided to throw money at another sporting organisation, outside of sydney, that has nothing to do with wests, balmain or the wests tigers.

Yet HBGs contribution to the wests tigers is roughly one fifth of what canterbury leagues contribute to the Bulldogs (from what I gather publicly).

Its such a horrible, depressing place. The food and beverage is awful, no restaurant operator can make it work and they have been through a few. The only thing that works are the pokies

Cause they absolutely detest each other.

Yes I've heard that before and it's bewildering, considering they were the ones who initiated it.

Is there a way that the NRL could get Cambo more involved, somehow?

Could this be explored further as an avenue of despair?

Surely, it's a possibility?

It would depend on the money they make, and if it was enough, the supporters could use 'people' power to make them our main owners.

There we go, I have just solved our problem. 🙂

Yeah, I was talking about the football club.

Is there any way of knowing what actually goes on and how they vote on things.

Also, I wonder if they have ever requested for more funds from HBG? And if they did, what happened?

Its not just the voting. Its their level of involvement and guidance to the strategy, their connections to improve sponsor revenue, impact our media image, provide life after footy options for players etc... but its also the culture they bring > One of unearned entitlement does not set the right top down standard and will impact our team on the field.

All these things we know from their profiles and actions.

plenty of posts in another thread about how we should ditch home games at Orana Park for Leichhardt….and now we want Wests Leagues Ctown to front up with the cash. Won’t happen whilst we continue to prioritise LO and the inner west.

That’s just people’s opinions about home grounds, this is different.

Why wouldn’t it work? Do you know or is this your own thoughts?

Has anyone ever discussed it with them? I imagine they have.

What was the outcome?

No one plays the pokies anymore?
Trust me that is not true.
Wests Ashfield have close to 400 poker machines with plans to go over 500 soon
They would be rolling in money without even trying.

My bad, my generation rarely play the pokies. Let alone being able to afford a beer when you go to the footy these days.
