Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

I think a lot of people here will be eating humble pie soon

I think/hope he stays and all the neutral supporters would love to the this blow up in Gould's face.

If Ivan stays it will only be because it becomes too difficult for the panthers and that they drop the pursuit. We won’t be able to walk through long grass ever again now that Ivan has been unearthed as a snake. He will have an unsavoury hissss-tory.

People wonder why our club is the most watched club on TV. Its because you dont just watch a football team but you get to follow one of the top rated australian TV dramas.

We should win a logie for best TV drama!

Grant Denyer did it, no reason we can't!

Said it 20 pages or so ago.. lol

This is all around Nathan. I think IC was genuine in his attempts to attract jnr to the club
I don’t think jnr wanted to leave Penrith
Gus comes up with the plan
Ball now in ovals court
As a man he should suck it up and see out a contrac
Hook up with Jnr in 2 years or so

Regardless of whether he goes or stays, regardless of whether he brings his son now and we win a string of comps, one thing Ivan will always have on him and that is the title of "Dog."

Has there ever been a time where a coach wanted to leave but a team forced to keep him and it actually worked for 1 or 2 years and it ended happy?? even with a player it has never happened. eventually crap piles up and then they grant a release and fold, happened with Moses last year.

Brad Fittler coach
2.million for Ivan
2 players transfer

Hay Penrith Brads our man

Fitler won't work as a club coach he has failed at it once before, so did Mal Meninga leave them for Origin

Pascoe confiscated the keys off Ivan for taking his kindness for a weakness & testing their relationship. This is their chance to put it all aside & build a Dynasty here @ the Tigers though and they don't even know it.

Ivan could backtrack out of having a guilty conscience, and be a man & say "Yeah, nah, I met with the Panthers, but I never asked for a release - I'm staying at the Tigers, and am in-charge of this rebuild", he has the opportunity to do the honorable thing and lay down all the shame on Gus, he would rebrand himself overnight. He would turn into the Lord of Concord if he stayed & brought his son over, everything would be forgotten.

It could go either way realistically though.

I dunno Don , if everything being bandied around is true Ivan wants to coach his son in the best situation he can

Based on 2018 playing talent , the playing nursery Penrith have , the COE they have , can you really blame Ivan for seriously considering it

As a parent , I understand that , I want my kids to get the best they can and if I think I can help I will , no questions asked and if it put me in a bad light , poo happens , people will get over it and if they can't I couldn't and wouldn't give 2 hoots

But the WT's need to be tough in this negotiation , if they want Ivan for 2019 , Gus would want to fork over most the Universe for him

We could get the forwards we need and become a force

And there is a lot of coaches at the moment of a high quality , it could actually end up win / win

Neither Nathan Cleary or Ivan Cleary were going to win a premiership with our current cattle

I'm not a father, but I hear what you're saying Happy. With due respect though, the boy hasn't even turned 21 yet, as stated by the two earlier, they were going to wait for Nathan's birthday before discussing working together. The decision rests squarely on Ivan's shoulders which way he wants to play it. However I would suggest that it might be detrimental and counter-intuitive of him to do so, at the risk of his son's development if the Panthers start having to lose players, and they lose games. Also the potential for legal proceedings to draw out over the coming weeks would be a distraction for everyone…Gus is very Machiavellian, slithers when he moves. I bet he looks in the mirror & sees a statesman, a potential great PM. Seems a bit all too weird and calculated with Billy's retirement being announced also.

I think this whole thing is still very much up in the air right now, you may find some swing on the pitch today. Either way, as stated before many times, we have all the bargening chips...Pascoe's 2 minute interview last night held enough weight for me to sit comfortably @ this very moment. Everything is speculation right now, but this is another blight on the game - the NRL core business practice is hollow & rotten for allowing these things to even draw out in the 1st place. If anything the Panthers will be sanctioned in the form of heavy compensation from us either way - and the local derbies will be great when we play them. I don't know what to think anymore tbh.

Unfortunately it seems from the reporting of this morning's meeting between Ivan and our players that he is wanting to go, so now I'm starting to think he has played a bigger part than he's letting on.
From here on this whole farce will be a process of digestion until some other big news is picked up by the media. The press will put all sorts of slants on the whole thing and eventually some will be saying how unfair the Tigers are for making it difficult for the Panthers to reunite their favourite sons!. Gus will make sure it all turns around and they all come out looking warm and fuzzy. Compassionate Grounds!! What a crock - just once you wish that the scumbags of the world would get what they deserve (however in saying that, Moses is one that has probably got his!).

Ivan is as good as gone, just a matter of time, and what the Tigers can get out of it. The Board are already admitting defeat with their meeting agenda tonight. The sooner we find a replacement coach the better. Please not Payten - we need to keep moving forward on the path we have taken, not step back to the "jobs for the boys" era.

Good points. I wouldn’t touch Payton either- a nice guy and gave his all for us but we need someone tough. Liam Fulton should butt out.
I think McGuire is a good tough coach who was dudded by Souths so he has a point to prove.

Cleary has destroyed his very own philosophy (if you'd call it that). I'm not sure how he could be taken seriously after what he's done here.

Let's be honest, we do not have leverage.

We have the law on our side but yeah thats about it.

Who would sign for a club where the coach doesn't want to be there? We will be an absolute basket case.

Just let him go and back to square one.

Ivan Cleary thread>>>>>>>>>>>

I actually don't think it matters who the coach is, because really the cultre of the team has not changed in 10 years.

We still get off to good starts to the year and fall apart
we still lose to bad teams
we still choke big leads and give us heart attacks at the end
we still fold at the end of the year in games we have to win.

At least the letting trys in before halftime has eased down though.

what exactly has changed since Sheens Potter JT Clearly?? NOTHING

It is now all about getting the best deal to let him go now.. not just letting him go.. that is why the threats are in, we know he is gone Pascoe knows he is gona but he is buying the time to get some $$$$ and players from panthers.
