Big worry is the club will have all this money to spend in 2022 but still can’t manage to land a quality player, really dissapointing after the Latrell fiasco to again fail again, meanwhile bulldogs have landed Flanagan,Cotric and Hetherington

JAC is a dog.

Pascoe and co are useless. The deal was there to be done, we stalled and stalled and now miss out. Pathetic and embarassing.

Big pressure on Talau to play origin next year

You sure it wasn’t JAC that stalled and stalled?

Yes. This is our fault.

Storm had publicly said they would release JAC after a suitable player was acquired. We failed to swap two vastly inferior players for one of the best players in the game. Most clubs would have waited for a while to try and make a deal without giving up anything, but there comes a time when a deal must be made. Other clubs would have pulled the trigger. We didn't.

Talau is a promising junior. Who's had injury issues. How many players like that have we had that went on to play origin? Even swapping Nof for jac is a huge upgrade. We've been moaning Nofs awful defence for years. He's just above average. And he's identical to Mansour. Which is why we most cetainly do not need or want him.

Whats more we need to stand for something, and that something needs to be providing pathways to our good young players. Letting them develop and become something at this club.

Exactly. There is no way we should release any players to get JAC unless it suits us.

I also think the idea that we didn't come up with a trade and the deal has fallen through because of that is complete and utter nonsense. This is JAC's decision and probably because he wants to play with Latrell and Kody and at redfern. I'm fine with that decision.

If JAC went to the meeting today and said I really want to be at the Tigers next year and I won't be playing at Melbourne then we wouldn't have released that official announcement.

Boys I love everyone here bc we are all on the same side with just differing opinions or years of painful experience and all of us have a unique voice - BUT it doesn't matter what the Club says making a statement - WE LOOK BAD. Everyone in league circles will know JAC backflipped bc he didn't want to come to us. The fact our statement says "We RESPECT the contactual arrangement between player and Melbourne Storm (I'm paraphrasing bc I don't know exact words) but hang on - you got the guy to sign a HOA so how respectful were you to the Melbourne Storm then. I've read some people say what could the club have done besides make this statement - well to start with our guys put us in this stupid position again - but if it was my decision I would've just been straight up and not sugar coated it - "For whatever reason Josh and / or Melbourne have decided to retain their current contractual arrangements - It's dissapointing bc we negotiated in good faith however we move on to bigger and better, thanks very much". By saying anything other than that and trying to cover it up that Melbourne all of a sudden won't play ball when JAC came out publicly and said he didn't sign a HOA and our Chairman says he did - makes us LOOK BLOODY SILLY AND WEAK AGAIN!..... This club needs a spine and backbone.

Oh well. Time to shut down the Latrell Mitchell thread, woops its JAC. Either way, shut it down and time to move on. Its too depressing.

I don't think you are reading the situation correctly. I think that this is a JAC decision and not a Melbourne Storm decision. He is entitled to make that decision.

I am pretty confident you've got this part wrong. I reckon we've told him you signed and this is an enforceable contract.

I reckon JAC wanted to negotiate with Souths and that now isn't an option unless he stays at the Storm.

It looks bad for us and it is bad for us but we've shown that we have a spine and a backbone. We just didn't get the best outcome for us.

Melbourne don’t want to look like tools and release Addo-Carr for ‘21....

Fastest man in league races into Concord....

Or am I totally tripping balls here?

Sorry @tigertye - you’re delusional.

We have dodged a bullet here. He does not want to come so better to know now.

For God’s sake - give our youth a go next year and buy up big for 2022. And that means avoid Mansour like the plague.

I can’t say I know much about Mansour as I don’t follow the Panthers, but I think you are under estimating the value of what experienced players have on the younger players.
If in fact he is coming, he may be a depth signing or play well enough to force his way into the top 13, who knows?

Fair play but I disagree strongly.

the only available/ realistic upgrade for our backs would've been JAC

Now he's off the table time to back our kids. AJ, talau Laurie (when he comes) will be our future....

Yup. Till they leave us for a club who will win a premiership this decade.

Maybe now he's made this decision. There was several months where he was happy to join us. All we needed to do was make a trade something of moderate value for a high value asset. When there's a cahnce to upgrade your squad you take it. . Especially when youre a club thats had giganitc issues signing quality players for a long time.

They can’t control backflips. Don’t believe this Storm not releasing him thing for one second. JAC has 100% backflipped and I would stake my life that he’ll be at South’s in 2022.

Your life? That's a rather big call.

I think the Storm were never going to release him. The term like for like comes to mind. Who do we have that is an Test and SOO player.

you never know....a couple years ago who would've thought the panthers and eels would be where they are now? both teams were putrid.... 2027 will be our year!!!

a few good kids coming through will make a heap of difference...

@Earl

Yes you're right - I should've used different words to convey my sentiment - which is the club just doesn't have the smarts to beat the other clubs on a commercial level.

I know what you're saying - we stopped him from going to Souths this year - but does that really help us at all? We don't get anything for it. We would be almost better trading Souths for something we want from them bc if he wants to go to Souths this year, he'll go next year, so lets at least get something out of it. Maybe we could've negotiated to release him from the HOA if the club is goes to gives us something in return - like a Junior, or heavy discount on a player, or first right to a player swap in the future etc. SOMETHING !!!

The way the club have allowed this to played out in the media is beyond a shambles. Honest to God when are we going to do something, anything right.

I’ve just heard that our club will no longer try to sign rep players. They now understand that trying to sign such players upsets our supporter base.

I understand your opinion but I don't believe that this is as simple as you are stating. You can't force a player to go to Melbourne and Melbourne have to want that player. The problem is you have no details on any trades that were raised or if any trades were raised.

You might be right but without the details it's impossible to judge the situation correctly.

A bit of damage control happening for JAC. Melbourne looking after him - and pretty sure they are more than happy to keep for another year sore toe and all.

They're a bloody strong club from the office down. WT should learn massively from them.

We've learnt plenty don't you worry

That's exactly why JAC is spending another year in Melb

And as for his family meaning so much to him?

Well I won't go there

You reckon, we fill our roster or use the money on someone else, souths leave a spot open, Storm say you can go now, we have no room or money left, , HOA is null and void, souths sign him for 2021

Mansour has the option to stay at Penrith to play reserves. He wants to play first grade, if he comes here that's where he will start.

This thread is so Tigers. Start off with JAC, land at Mansour.
