So if Brooks carves up this weekend does Hastings get of the plane in Dubai ?

why wouldnt he, that means its another 20 games until brooks carves it up again.

Only 20 you’re optimistic

Our management are looking at him (Hastings),” said Maguire, a former Wigan Super League-winning coach.

“I am aware there are some conversations around him, yes. To be honest, we’re just finding out where he is at, because we don’t know whether Super League will go ahead so potentially it (Hastings arriving) could now.

“We will have a look at everything that is currently available.

“I’m not going to bullshit you. At the end of the day we are looking at every player to potentially bolster our squad. We have obviously got some spots available and we are looking to bolster our squad. That’s our job.”

Asked would Hastings want to come home, Maguire said: “I don’t know, mate.”

Maguire denied the move was a reflection on Brooks.

“Jackson Hastings can play six, seven, nine and 13,” Maguire said. “But as far as I know, he is a Wigan player.”

Wasnt that from his interview about a month ago? From memory he said that before Hastings had even gone back.

The comment about not knowing if Super League will go ahead has to be old. It starts tomorrow.

***The fans have spoken*** Brooks is on the outer. Congrats to Madge for making the big decisions.

I wont believe it until I see a well constructed...poll.

I highly doubt anyone at the club did anything because “the fans have spoken”

Are you saying my poll vote means nothing !?!?!?!

haha....it means something to me (and was well constructed)

I like the idea of having him as a ball playing lock - although I think that is just cover to not say that they dont have faith in Brooks tbh. He is slower than Doueihi which is why I dont mind the idea of having him at lock. It would be one of the slowest half pairings in the world lol.

Slowest half pairings?...
But he has such fast hair-cuts...😕
That's why Poopen-Sheisen is so quick... It's coz he looks like Sonic The Hedgehog...
Our squad needs a new barber.

So can Mbye - look how that turned out.

I wonder if the fact they’ve left him out of the team this weekend for no particular reason means the deal is done?

That or quarantine still? Or not enough training post quarantine?

He’s out of quarantine, but the coach said he hasn’t trained enough with the team which seems odd.

If he has been out of quarantine he would of had last week and this week with the squad. It’s not just about training with the squad it’s also about getting his fitness levels up & body contact flowing. He hasn’t played a game for 12mths and missed a whole preseason. He is 3mths behind everyone at the moment.

Do you and I have an in-house joke that I don't know about, coz I don't get it...

Wait, aero-dynamics. Yeah, now we're talking!

The media is going full alarmist on the Tigers this week and half of you are going with them. Now it's alarm bells because Joey was critical of Brooks' game and Chammas has got wind we're working on the Hastings deal that we've been working on for some 6 months.

It's not alarm bells losing to two competition heavyweights first two weeks. It's not good reading but can absolutely be turned around. This media stuff is becoming a beat-up because, again, it helps to sell papers and drive these click-bait narratives around popular clubs.

Where is the hullabaloo around Manly or Cowboys or Broncos or Dragons?

that is too much common sense for here. please stop it

So what have we got If we get Hastings and how will our team look
This could be our team in a few weeks

My take on it

Laurie
Nofoaluma
Roberts
Douiehi
New recruit or Gebbie soon
Brooks
Hastings
Tamou
Liddle
Musgrove
LJ
Garner
Talau (mobile body)

Twal
Ofahengaue
Blore
Stefano

If and that's a big if, Liddle can play 80 then we have 4 big boppers on the bench
Should we get an injury in the backs then Talau moves back into the centres and Douiehi switches to cover the injury

Reserves
BJ
Mikaele
Simpkins
Simpkin
AJ

One new player changes how our team lines up
Still concerned with Brooks but if Hastings comes Brooks needs to run
If he can't run then what do we do with him

Don’t think he will disappear.
Rather have him at five eighth instead of Brooks.

Nope, don't like it

Hastings either replaces brooks or has no real place in the team

Doueihi will develop into a quality 5/8

If Hastings comes he is coming to play
I don't think Brooks will be dropped just yet
Brooks is the face of the Tigers and the media would have a field day with us
But we need to win and Madge needs to make the hard decisions

Mbye might become surplus to our requirements
He could be used as a trade for someone like Isaako

Yep, Brooks has been placed in the leadership group for a reason. It'll be hard for him to lead in reserve grade.

Think the stumbling block with Hastings was a 200000 quid transfer fee to break his contract, which gets counted against our cap and is essentially dead money
But were a dead and buried club in 2021 unless we get a defence coach AND an organising half, and neither Brooks nor Douhi nor Mbye are the latter
Madge has to roll the dice on Hastings to save his own coaching career IMO...he's bought more deadwood than Ivan tbh, with only Lucy and Laurie having a crack and looking like NRL contenders.
Joffa/Tamou/Douhi/JoeyL and Koepa either underperforming or just dont have sufficient skills to make it,and JtJ too early to tell whether he still has it
I like Madge, but so far Im VERY underwhelmed.Needs stronger recruitment and retention plus player indivudual skill development (most are going backwards),and new approaches to fire up motivation and ownership ,particularly in defence
Were heading for an armwrestle with the Broncos for the spoonspoon unless something changes..fast
Madge deserves better, but he gotta deliver as I dont want another 3 years of this rubbish

I think you are being too critical of Joffa and Tamou.

Michael Chammas
25 March 2021

Wests Tigers have fast-tracked plans to lure the son of former Roosters great Kevin Hastings back to Australia after a drama-plagued initiation to the NRL. Hastings’ manager, Sam Ayoub, also manages Wigan coach Adrian Lam.

Tigers sources told the Herald the pursuit of the 25-year-old is not a reflection of the club lacking faith in Brooks, however the halfback’s performances over the first two rounds have cast doubt over his ability to lead the club to the finals for the first time since 2011.

Brooks, who was one of coach Michael Maguire’s first retention decisions when he joined the Wests Tigers, is contracted until the end of 2023. It is understood the halfback, who has won 42 per cent of games since his debut in 2013, is on a contract worth close to $900,000 a season over the next two years.

The Tigers had shown interest in Hastings over the off-season, offering the former Roosters and Manly playmaker a deal for this year, as well as the next two seasons.

The Tigers want to use Hastings as a ball-playing lock, similar to the role Connor Watson plays with the Knights. He will also add depth in the halves, as well as at hooker where they have a heavy reliance on Jacob Liddle. Hastings also kicks goals, an area the Tigers have struggled in recent years.

Hastings played 47 games across five seasons in the NRL, leaving the Sea Eagles following a public fallout with Daly Cherry-Evans and then Manly coach Trent Barrett after an altercation following a night out at a Gladstone strip club in 2018.

Hastings has scored 20 tries in two seasons in the Super League.

SO DCE ain't coming now

Damn we thought we had him .....
