OFFICIAL James Tamou [Discussion]

Mason has always known that the big games like Origin or finals were about intensity. Unfortunately his definition of intensity and mine are miles apart. Two big runs in the first 5 mins, another 10 mins later and then a bit of rest up the back is not intensity.

I've watched this game for a long time and occasionally I've seen selectors face decisions about the old bull and the young bull. Although I like Daley as a coach and think he had a brilliant career, I've got no doubt that if he chooses Mason before Woods he has squibbed it. Mason has reached about 70% of his potential in the game and is on the decline. Woods has reached about 70% of his potential and is on the incline.

Pardon the pun but Blind Freddy could tell you which is the right decision.

Hoffman was ineffective going into the last quarter. He was tired and looked gone. Reduce his role to the last ~60min to avoid that happening.

Personally I never would have had him in the side for game I, but now he is there, might as well keep him for stability.

I thought Hoffman was excellent in game 1.

Tamou has been hopeless all year, blessing in disguise if you ask me.

Tamou will only get a walk-up start back into the NSW team for game 3 because they don't have anyone better to choose at this stage.
Tamou was the form front-rower of the comp last season but has done nothing this year, same as Matt Scott.

Cowboy James Tamou says his showdown with Wests Aaron Woods is a ticket to Test selection

8 hours ago April 11, 2014 10:00PM

NORTH Queensland battering ram James Tamou has identified tonight’s showdown with Aaron Woods as his ticket to Test selection.

While the big forward’s mind is firmly on helping the Cowboys to victory over the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Stadium, next month’s Anzac clash is never far form his thoughts.

Despite being a key cog in Australia’s World Cup win in England late last year, Tamou anything but considers himself a certain selection in Tim Sheens’ star-studded Kangaroos.

So that’s where Woods come in.

After a blistering start to the season, Tamou has rated Woods as one of the NRL’s elite props.

“The Anzac Test is coming up and Woodsie is definitely up there as one of the best front rowers at the moment, so I’m really looking forward to this battle against him,” he said.

“This can show selectors what I’m still capable of.

“If you had asked me (this time) last year I probably would have told you I’m not thinking about the Australia game … but I can’t hide it, it’s always good to make the Australian side.”

The Tigers are ranked as the NRL’s No.1 attacking team after five rounds, with halfback Luke Brooks and fullback James Tedesco earning praise as the team has scored 28 points a game.

But Tamou is adamant Woods is the real attacking cornerstone mastermind.

Averaging 141m and 26 tackles, 194cm, 114kg Woods and his fearless forward pack have provided a hard-hitting platform as the Tigers have a launched a giant-killing start to 2014.

Tamou, who is hardly a slouch in his production this season, averaging 123m and 23 tackles, believes was also confident Woods is out would be out to prove his own a point against North Queensland’s all-Test front row as he pushes for New South Wales Origin selection.

“He’s playing really well and that’s what I think is behind the Tigers’ success,” he said.

“It will be a big test for me to find out where I can put myself among the league’s best front rowers, because I think it would be fair to say Woodsie is up there with the best at the moment.

“I’m definitely doing as much home work as I can.”

Interestingly, While Wests have scored the NRL’s most points, the Cowboys are one of the league’s most stingy defensive units, giving up 14.6 a game to be ranked second.

After showing signs of their attack clicking in Monday’s win over Newcastle, North Queensland hooker Ray Thompson hoped they could provide a perfect combination of both tonight.

“With our structures I definitely think we can score a few more points,” he said.

“But if you see the teams that have won the comp over the past few years, they have been very strong defensively and that what’s we want to be as a team.”

Tamou set leave Cowboys

Sat 21 March, 2015

COWBOYS and Blues enforcer James Tamou looks set to leave the Cowboys as he seeks a move back to Sydney.

The 26-year-old, who has spent the past seven years with the Townsville-based club, is off contract at season’s end and has reportedly attracted the attention of a number of Sydney clubs.

The embattled Dragons, who have a number of forwards off contract players at the end of 2015, are desperate to add size up front and view Tamou as the perfect target.

The prospect of pairing Tamou with former Warrior Russell Packer is a mouthwatering one for Red V fans.

But before Packer can be registered he must be given the all-clear from the NRL, who met with the prop and Dragons officials for the first time last week.

The **Tigers** and the **Sharks** have also reportedly expressed interest in Tamou, who is keen to move his young family back to Sydney.

The multi-million dollar deals offered to hulking forward Jason Taumalolo and Johnathan Thurston, along with the re-signing of Michael Morgan and acquisition of Ben Hannant suggests much of the club’s money is tied up over the next few years.

Tamou has started only one of the first three games but at 26, is confident his best footy is still in front of him after recovering from a career-threatening neck injury.

Apart from his first hit up in his first SOO he has done absolutely nothing!

Do not rate him.

Find it offensive that it is reported we would be interested.

Woods, Galloway, Taupau, Lodge, Ave….......all much better, might find a spot in Reggies if he wants weekly payments.

The phrase "looks like Tarzan; plays like Jane" applies well to Tamou.

We don't need to be spending money on a prop at moment. Other positions should be looked at first.

Moving to another club might be just what he needs.
Hold on - we don't want anybody with proven ability anywhere near our team. :unamused:

I don't think people are saying that we don't need him CK

But for the money we are going to spend to sign him , I would rather pick up a quality centre

To be a contender we need quality across the park

How times have changed at Concord!
For us to be passing up a prop because we've got too many good ones!

It's nice
