James Tedesco’s dad slams NRL for not doing enough to protect its star players

No issue with the dads passion.

I have been involved in sports at a much lower level and when parents get involved it only puts pressure on the player.

Tedesco will get sledged about his dads comments and will become even more of a target.

I don't think it does him any favours despite the comment being one that some might see as fair.

I agree. I think his dad should have just stayed out of it.

He's a dad who is protective and proud of his son… Probably a good bloke. Geez some of the people on here need a little perspective.

Being proud is one thing, saying people come to games to see his son and not Ryan James is arrogance. Not many people would have gone to see Alex McKinnon play either. Players should not be protected based on a scale of their ability.

Fullbacks and wingers are always going to get smashed when catching high balls etc. And I don't think anyone has a problem with that.

What we do have a problem with is when the contact is against the rules…
Like making contact with the head 😕

I read that more so as him trying to emotionally attack Ryan James (and the NRL) in retaliation for injuring (not protecting) his son. I didn't get arrogance from that. Just an upset dad coming out swinging.

Just like Alex McKinnons family attacking Cam Smith.
