James Tedesco new knee injury

Due to his age they will prob see if the meniscus will heal itself , this would be the better option in the long run, and if the quartezone dosent work then he will have the scope
Hes still only 19 , no rush to get him back so soon,

Unfortunately meniscus injuries aren't self healing Shadow

They are in the process of trialling with stem cells to rebuild (recreate?? ) meniscus tissue If some may remember Todd Payten had this procedure trialled on him before his retirement and was suitably informed Anthony Tupou has also had this procedure

I was advised at the time I did mine that certain, minor meniscus tears could heal by themselves, however most tears, and certainly flap tears like I had which are common, do not and require surgery.

I just hope the Tigers aren't rolling the dice on this one and decide that in 2 months time that Tedesco needs a scope to fix it.

I vaguely remember when Moltzen had done his ACL? that there was mention that he could of had a stem cell surgery or some new technique that had only been used a few times which they had successfully done on some AFL player to get him back quicker than the normal procedure but he or WT decided against it because of his age and that he had many years before he will retired.

That would be LARS which is what Covell had when he did his ACL in his final year, he was back running in a few months. They take a replacement ligament or an artificial carbon fibre one, and make a new ACL.

What Payten/Tupou had was different, it was actual stem cell treatment where they culture new cells and inject it into the required area. Amazing we are moving into this area, this was sci-fi stuff not so long ago.

I see Lote is still training with the boys….I wonder what his outcome will be?

Whatch Tigers train this week at Wyong, Lote looked super fit. Interesting also, was he did a few drills at full back. althought Simona looked very sharp at f/back.

The problem is Willow that is depending where the tear in the minuscus is

You leave them and that piece of scar tissue breaks off and causes a major lock up at the wrong time you could do anything and really damage the knee in so many different ways

My point is that if Teddy gets the surgery now he maybe sets himself back a month Why risk an injury that could be far worse and put more pressure on himself

Of all the knee injuries I had Willow the only one I was told could (not would) in about 75% of cases was the PCL injuries

seriously I could say this is all fascinating but Id be lying.
Isnt this about Tedesco???

It is definitely about Tedesco Ink , we can even name the body part for you if you need any help

thanks very much, LaT; personally i found that post to be very interesting!

ink, have you always been so bitter? or do you see yourself as the simon cowel of this forum?!

okay, back to the teddy knee: correct me if i am wrong, but a meniscus tear is not a huge deal? when i had my acl reco, the best sign it was fully healed was when i injured that same knee but a different injury. to me this signals the acl is very strong….

Correct Turnstyle My concern is they are going to leave it ,personally I would get it repaired it could lead to further damage during the season

I also thought that was very interesting info. Thanks for the update Happy and everyone else.
I guess he needs to do what is best long term rather than worry about being there for round 1.

Not to discredit anyone's info so far - http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00358

For interest/discussions sake.
Pretty simple terms if you don't understand the language.
.1 sec of google search.

Not bitter, but a bit annoyed when the topic goes form a boom rookie WTs player to reg varney doing his knee stumbling out of the rub a dub in '68….
