To be fair the article is more about how quickly and quietly the Sharks got the deal done with AFB and who can argue with that. There would be none of this speculation or doubt that is going on now.

If he wanted to play with his mates he would have stayed at Penrith. I get the feeling he is motivated to do something different like make the tigers a top 8 (and potentially top 4 team) to cement his legacy.

Heard him on the radio one years ago claim that if the Broncos had offered him big money when he played, he’d have taken it. It must be hard for all the old timers seeing the coin today’s players bank. And salaries are only going to keep going up the more years pass

I am not writing off the dogs yet at all, Gus is a shifty prick he will have another tilt at Luai I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese meal was with Luai.
To be fair article is more about how quickly/ quietly the Sharks got the AFB deal done - and hard to argue with that. He just sounds doubtful that we will get the deal done like plenty of us for good reason.

what’s the issue with what blocker said ? He spent his whole career playing for the tigers in a period , where they were almost always at the top of the table , and had anywhere from 4- as much as 8 internationals in the team.
His whole opinion is skewed because of his own history , and as such expresses his opinion because of this .
FYI , if i found that I was content and found myself correctly motivated in staying in a dominant team , I would as well .
But that’s just it , Luai seems like those motivations and playing second fiddle to the Cleary family are a no go anymore . Is blocker taking those feelings into consideration when he formulated his opinion? Probably not . He’s probably struggling to even empathise with someone who’s won 3 straight premierships considering the 88 and 89 gfs .
He’s hardly a turncoat who hates the team for having a very generic opinion for a guy who played in a successful team over a long period . It’s exactly what Cam smith , slater , Matt Geyer , Cronk would all say . I have no issue at all with it .

The issue is he‘s a so called club legend. Yes, I know he isn’t, never even played for WT’s, but that’s the way the media portray him. So could you imagine Thurston publicly discouraging a player signing with the Cowbys or Cam Smith advising a player not to sign with the Storm. Would not happen. Not just because they are far more superior run clubs with greater on field success, but those guys are actually passionate about their respective clubs. Blocker isn’t.
I remember years ago, Block saying that Masterton tried to persuade him to join the Magpies, offered to build him a house with a pool. But he declined and stayed loyal to the Tigers.
You could read similarities with his comments on Luai, stay loyal to Penrith.
I'm sure if Luai does sign with us he would probably come and say it will be good for the club, anyway just my take on it.
Yea maybe , I just think you guys are jumping at shadows. Like I said he’s just singing from the NRL hive mind song sheet . It’s the same as his commentary . I like the guy , but it’s commentary by numbers and cliches .
Put it this way , if it was Chris Lawrence or dene Halatau or something , sure I would probably have an issue as both are not just great tigers (wests lol) players , but both still have active rolls within the nrl and have some sort of influence .
But a commentator who only really is employed because of the throwback opinions to try and appease a certain age group , who are the biggest contributors to fox sports / foxtels main business model (cable tv) , I mean that’s just click bait my guy .
To me he’s like the uncle who gets pissed and acts the fool on Xmas day , giving you lectures on back in my day . You just smile and grin and chuckle it off , knowing you don’t have to see or hear from the bloke for another year .

Blocker is doubting that he is coming our way after he came out said he hasn't signed with anyone after the Chammas story broke. He would love him to come to us but our track record is not good at landing who we want - unlike the essence of the story that was about how efficient the Sharks went about their business in signing AFB.

If he genuinely wanted him to come to the club, he would not have worded it how he did. As much as a lot of people have doubted him actually coming here in this thread, still to this day, not one person has said it would be a bad move. They find reasons to think how good it would be, how he could lead a side from the bottom of the ladder to a premiership, prove to Penrith he could do it on his own. That’s the angle that Blocker would have if he really cared. But he doesn’t. He’s a bitter old fart.
You have made it abundantly clear long before this that you are not a fan.

What’s funny is, we have actual WT’s legends who did something the guys you mentioned never did. Won a premiership. Tbf on Pearce, I don’t mind him. It’s Elias, Blocker and Jack that beg for relevance.
As a follower of the Wests Magpies (when they were part of the NRL) I was a great admirer of S B Roach when he played with the BALMAIN Tigers! BUT enough is enough and as a Wests Tigers supporter I implore him to echo the words "NO COMMENT" when a Journalist or TV Reporter contacts him for his thoughts on anything Wests Tigers.
