OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Hbg has nothing to do with this, on one of the podcasts they said Benji Shaun and gallant are in control of recruitment
Sorry but id need a whole lot more confidence in the HBG than you do to state something with the certainty you have here.

I just can't rule out them being involved. Can not see Benji thinking this is a good idea at all. He would not do Luai like this. He has the biggest say and I just can't see a world where he made that call. This is pressure from above.

Is it too much to ask for this club to go one season without being a walking circus?
Just one damn season without creating more headlines that make us the joke of the NRL?
Season after season we are the headline story, board members banned, entire boards sacked, players under contract just allowed to walk out, Richo sacked, sacked board members invited back, rookie coach given lengthy contract extension. Still no idea who is our actual board, still the club is run on minimal funding by debenture directors who are unable to be voted out and still are unable to accept that it is no longer Wests & Balmain. We continue to have to pay overs because the club is in shambles.
I am so exhausted by it all. 🫩

HBG circus is an annual event sorry. I'm a firm believer they should bring in consultants to figure out whats going wrong ...... oh wait they did that already.

Question to all : Do we now have $1.2million
or whatever is left over if we were to pay part of his contract to play elsewhere?

If anybody knows can they fill me in please?
If he leaves end of 26 you can bet the new club will want us to pay funds towards his wages so yes it’s in our cap what ever we pay him not to be hear , at a pinch probably $ 500 k which to me is crazy to pay for a guy not playing for you , I would keep him

and still leads the NRL in try assists in his position

Which has been quite obvious to anyone objectively looking at Jerome's performances this season. Sadly, not too many have been.

No problem with criticism that is warranted, and some has been, particularly around value and form in the weeks after signing elsewhere, but to pretend that he hasn't been putting in is just plain wrong.

not really … he could have played out the year… Im surprised he isn’t actually ..considering the supposed relationship with Benji

The official storyline that it will help retain the Fainu brothers smells a bit … they are both already under contract next year …Latu’s money is fine for 2027 … yeah they could elect to pay Sam more .. but they are better off just paying him more on the next deal with the additional cap money ..

I’m hoping that maybe someone else has fallen out of a tree and they need to free up some money to get him
Think weve already spent most of Luais 2028 $$ upgrading existing players..pretty much the same ones (plus the Fainus hopefully)who will achieve a bottom 4 finish this year...doesnt feel like a huge step forwrd
Luai with attitude is superflous next year, and if we can grab another $600k back its another proven 1st grader for 27
Sam will be well rewarded for 28 onwards, and just hope we dont do another Bula paying now and ongoing for what they mite potentially be one day

wasting $600k to obtain $600k seems typical Tigers thinking..I’m hoping they at least have someone lined up to take his place for the freed up $600k .. if that’s the case then fair enough

He hasn’t delivered & he is already out the door.
Having him here for next year or not won’t be the deciding factor in making the finals.
He hasn’t really stood up for 80%+ of his games with us.

Luai will find a home easily.

If this is the difference between us keeping the Fainu boys or not, you pick this path anyday of the week. Add to that it would probably mean we have more cash to balance the squad out and we should end up infront.

I have a feeling Benji views Latu is ready and can’t wait another year

The Fainu boys are already signed for next season…

So in other words we bought a dud that is only worth 600k and we are paying him double?
Geez we are good at that.
Definitely HBG’s fault.
I wasn't even thinking of bringing them into this conversation. I planned to focus on why and how this has come about.

But now that you have brought it up, is just a coincidence this same song and dance has been happening under their watch?

Always someone else's fault, never any accountability at the top.

You admited yourself that December 2025 was a balls up when Luai was about to remove the clauses. So you are actually correct, this is connected to their actions.

Thanks for bringing it up.
