Yea, we really miss that great onfield leadership of Luke Brooks.
I mean we had fantastic on field leadership in Brooks, Jackson Hastings and Aiden Sezer.
It must be that 4 time Premiereship winner that is the problem here. ...


Hey you are right, we have always been a disorganised rabble. We looked so lost this season many times. Heck we have looked lost for such a long time, I had to think was Ivan Cleary coaching us or are we going back to Scott Prince times...

So many games, we walk out and... I have no idea what the gameplan is and neither do the players.
Yes, Luai needs to take leadership. Luai has taken leadership in our defense and we have seen what a difference that has made for our defense... Luai also needs to lead in Attack...

But our gameplan, What Gameplan??
I see our guys run out and have no idea what to do. They are not sure so they are slower and it often seems it's a one trick wonder. Luai needs to own it when the gameplan goes out the window, but it is on Benji when we just have no idea so many games walking out there.

Luai owes us in 2026, but Benji owes us bigger in 2026.

Luai's a 6 who needs a seven.

He's been playing much better of late.

He won't live up to his contract as a player. He's an above average nrl player who made a career out of playing the easiest role in the greatest team of the modern era.

But we had money to spend and he has helped attract other good players.

It's a bad deal but the only alternative was to commit to Galvin and Latu as our future halves, which simply wasn't a reality for a coaching staff and admin that needed results sooner.

I concur with all of that
We needed him desperately..and still do..despite transparent shortcomings and the price tag we paid

Dogs apparently squeezing Burton out...have realised he cant create anything,so LG goes to 6 and we get a 7j just like....the one they had that got them to the top earlier this year!!

Which can also mean, thanks for your efforts but we don’t need you any more. It’s never as simple as “ take the deal son”.

Which sounds harsh. But Benji never was a 7, Morris/Hodgson can't coach a 7 and really they don't have the structure in themselves to do it.
Scott Prince might, he might not... Doesn't matter he is not here.

If Luai joined the Cowboys and hung around Jonathan Thurston, or Easts and Cooper cronk... Yea, he would develop into a decent halfback. Unlike Brooks he has that attitude... But it won't blossim with us.

At best, he may become a Lockyer style 5/8.

Days of a 6 and 7 are almost gone.

Luai is a good half but lacks a long kicking game and plays better on the edge.

He needs a partner who has a good long kicking game, can straighten the attack and defends well. Both Douehi and Latu fill that role.

Luai has a very good understanding of when to go short side, when to go long, when to cut back in etc. you won't find many halves better than him at playing the short side especially with May and Fainu now getting confident with him.

Dogs have Burton who's a good edge player with a good kicking game so they needed someone who can straighten the attack in the middle and on the edge so they went all in on Galvin.
 
How many games did the Wests Tigers win this year when Jarome Luai wasn’t playing?
I only remember him missing the Bronco’s game at Suncorp and Manly at 4Pines and we lost both.

We brought some handy players to the club other than Luai who have been pretty helpful. May, Turuva, Skelton and May have all been good to great.
Adam Doueihi took his chance.
Bula kept improving as did Twal and the Fainu triumvirate.
Toa has been great in spurts, especially at the start of the year.
Losing Galvin certainly helped as he stifles our play.
I’m not saying he hasn’t had some influence - of course he has. Well over a million dollars worth? Not for mine, let’s see what next year brings.

Similar money to what Brown will earn at the Knights, for me, Luai offers more with respect to his leadership he shows. He seems to drive some of the standards which was not as evident in previous years. As you say let's see what next year brings.

If it's someone not close to the club, they obviously aren't there to witness what's going on.. so how can they comment?
