More like Joey John's according to some. AD might be a lovely guy but he ain't a half.

Its a sad indictment of the clubs situation that AD should be anywhere near a half in a pro league club but like it or not he is the only player in the squad with an IQ over 75 so he looks like Andrew Johns out there among players that wear head gear off the field.

I could have handled another year with Luai if he was consistent in meeting playing performance for the money we were paying him, but in reality it was only late 2025 and some early examples in 2026 that we saw glimpses of his Penrith form and this certainly dropped off more since the PNG signing with one exception . Given that his motor took a year to start performing for us, it is a very optimistic for any club that takes him on to expect this will change with their signing. If it does then what does it say about Benjis coaching

Some thoughts on moments luai had vs the warriors .

He got the ball at first receiver 5 metres behind the dummy half, run sideways, then drop twal under. Then I realised that he always does this. Its a pointless play, because the chasing marker tackles twal at the advantage line and we only make a few metres..

He threw a great ball for makasini that would have brought the game back to 14-12.. maka stuffed that one up (all you Luai haters, Douhei said the same in the presser).

The grubber kick on the 2nd tackle was dumb.

Also missed 5 tackles.

he ain't what he said he was going to be. Doesn't mean he won't kick on next year or at the chiefs. But for $1.2million I think Benji has made the right call here.

It comes with the territory sadly. You can’t earn the money he does, the fame, the side gigs, become the face of a new franchise then suddenly feel upset cos you aren’t living up to your current contract value after winning comps the years prior. Expectations are more than reasonable to have. Especially when he’s played two decent games in 18 months.

Don't think he realised how hard it would be going from a well run organisation with a wealth of resources and talent to a cellar dweller club with a fan base who are at the end of their tether. When he leaves we will find a replacement to level our blame at because it's easier to blame individuals than except that the whole joint needs to be turned up side down and cleared out
We can't hold him responsible for years of failure or expect that he would be the key to changing our fortunes.I have no doubt his intentions were good. He earned his contract value and would have got the same/similar money from any club - re PNG.

I really don't have any personal feelings towards him.

Just haven't liked his time here, he's not the right type of player (on field wise) we need to get better. In fact he's exactly the off the cuff make up as you go player we DON'T need. That's what has made us bad for years, and he makes it worse.

I'm not crook at him, but he was paid $1.2M for a particular reason - it's expected to be extremely hard to turn this club around.

I think he tried his best and was a positive influence, but I also don't think we got value for money. That's the kind of money Easts are paying Tedesco or Panthers Nathan Cleary.

Obviously we need to pay overs, but Knights are paying Dylan Brown that same kind of money for the same kind of overs and, despite the high risk of the duration of his contract, they are arguably getting a better return on Brown in his first season than we've had with any of the Luai seasons.
