Jarred Farlow close to making NRL debut

Hard working back-rower Jarred Farlow is close to making his NRL debut for Wests Tigers against Penrith Panthers at Centrebet Stadium on Sunday, June 9.

A Balmain junior with the Leichhardt Wanderers Club, 26-year-old Farlow has been named by Coach Mick Potter on a five-man interchange bench.

Farlow has spent the past seven seasons in the NSW Cup with Balmain and now Wests Tigers. He also played two seasons for Balmain in the Jersey Flegg competition.

Should he take the field, Farlow will become the seventh player this season to make his NRL debut for Wests Tigers under Potter should he take to the field behind Jack Buchanan, Ava Seumanufagai, Sitaleki Akauola, Sauaso Sue, Shaun Spence and David Nofoaluma.

He would also become the 165th player to represent Wests Tigers in first grade.

Wests Tigers NSW Cup Coach Paul Fletcher has overseen Farlow’s development in recent years and describes him as a real footballer.

“Jarred’s defensive techniques are second to none and he would have one of the best techniques in the club,’’ Fletcher said.

“When Jarred hits you, you know you are hit. He does all the little things right. He is a footballer.

“Jarred knows how to play the game. One of his best attributes is that he can play edge, tight, or at nine. He has even played in the halves for me and no matter where you play him, he gets the job done for you. Nothing fazes him.

“Out of all the blokes I’ve coached, Jarred is one player who totally deserves this opportunity. I’m very pleased for him."

Good luck to the young bloke…. One things for sure no matter what the injuries Sheenius would not have given this guy a go

7 years in reserve grade?

gee, he aint gonna let his nrl jersey go to anyone else after sunday…

look out penrith!

Wonderful to hear a good news story for a change. He deserves to get more game time on Sunday than BMM and Pettybourne

It's clear Jarred is the kind of player first grade sides need. Not flash, never a standout but capable of doing a consistent job. You think Mark O'Neill right away. David Stagg, Shaun Fensom, Corey Parker are other players similar. There's nothing flash in any of those guys games but if you asked any of their team mates, I bet they'd say they were vital. Farlow could be that sort of player for us, he's got a long way to go though.

It's been confirmed farlow is in the 17 man side and will get his run this weekend against the panthers.
So happy for the guy. Just hope he leaves it all on the park for everyone to see.
He turned down England for this one last season at the tigers.

Paul Clark played plenty of reserves before he got his crack ,and went on to become a good first grade football.

he has been a stand out at nsw cup level for years, runs terrific lines, id liken his style to Ryan Hoffman but not quite as athletic.
im really happy he has gotten a chance and feel he has earned it

A long time coming and a reward for patience. Should of been there ahead of Spence earlier this year but nonetheless he is there now.
A honest good footballer who wont let the side down. Has the respect of his teammates throughout the club. Plays like young Docker from Penrith.
