Jason Taylor ...THREAD...

Can those in the "sack Taylor" group advise who they would want as the replacement and the reason why, based on current available coaches? I see it as a choice between (excuse the very rough stats):
The master (Ivan Cleary): couple of hundred games as NRL coach. Win rate of less than 50%. Took a warriors team with half a dozen internationals to semis 2 of 4 years, made one grand final and is yet to win a comp.
The apprentice (Toovey): Inherited a manly side with half a dozen internationals from Des Hasler. Side had been semi finalists for the last 6 years. Made the semi's every year in charge before infighting saw the side struggle his last year and him sacked.
The Tigers do not have half a dozen internationals and neither of these coaches have shown an ability to build a roster. I am not sold on Taylor, but am not sold on any of the replacements. I think that any coach here would struggle with the current roster.

Who cares. We cannot continue to accept poor performance within our ranks. I've said before our squad isn't that bad. So far we have underperformed.

Yep. There are a bunch of posters on here that blindly support Taylor and it looks stupid.

He should be judged based on how he has performed. He needs to improve massively.

What i am concerned about is we have had a very good draw and now it is going to get harder. Okay we did not have a lot of luck flow our way during the loosing streak, but Taylor is going to be judged at the end of the day on his win loss ratio and there is a real chance it will not be flash in a months time, not that it is now. Pascoe has come out and said all but the Canberra game they have been happy with the teams performance, I say that is just positive spin.

Anyway the season is now in the balance and I would imagine JT's job is in the balance

What I am saying and have been called to task is - we are 2 points out of the eight.

People on here last week were saying "our season is gone", "I am looking to 2017" etc.

I am saying, our season is not gone. I am not saying we are a champion team, I am not saying that some of the teams are not as good as last year etc.

However I am saying that some people on here are always looking for excuses for us not doing anything good at all. The glass will always be empty for some people no matter what the Tigers do.

*Other teams are not as good as they were.
*Crap coach - sack him
*We have potential, not good enough, we are tired of it.
*It wasn't a bad effort against the Storm - but they were crap.
*A thrashing against the Raiders, sack the coach, sack the players….
*They put in against the Rabbits but they were crap to.

and so it goes on.

Now that E. Taylor is with us, forwards are strengthened, the younger guys have more experience and with a bit of luck we will win a few games and are still a chance of making the eight.

I don't care if the other teams are not as good as they were. If we can pinch their spot in the eight - tough for them.

Go! you Mighty Tigers!!!!!

Good to see that you've seen the light
I agree with you . ALL of your bullet points are exactly right, and I'm glad you can see that now.
And I agree that some people ARE always looking for excuses, so can we take it that you are finished making excuses for Taylor ?????? :righton:

Very funny mate, you know exactly what I was saying.

The dot points are mostly yours and I agree with none of them nor you.

Taylor does not need excuses, he has never offered them and neither do I.

I see the dark side has reeled you back in.
I suppose were back to saying that " Taylor is great""?
With that glowing endorsement I don't think that we can fight off all the offers that will be coming in to Poach him.
So , we should look for another Coach immediately,
Glad you warned us

Souths win has got a lot of people excited but it has to remembered we have already been beaten by the two wooden spoon favourites in the Knights and the Titians. I hope we have turned the corner but really we should be right up near the top of the ladder given our draw and the games we have let slip through our fingers

youre definetly right about the standard of most the teams this year WD the difference in standard between the Good teams and the rest is big.
And Russ
Its one thing to support a coach but a whole other thing to close your eyes to the reality of the situation

This is interesting ..so is the player strength the problem or is at present the coaching stocks sub standard across the board..so far this season I think the later could be the problem in the NRL.

Hard to say, souths and easts have the same coaches but both have been very poor, easts lost an international fullback and origin 5/8th, plus an origin half and an international prop and secondrower for 8 rounds.
So easts look like they have some excuse, souths lost an international hooker and an international centre, but they have looked tired and disinterested and really do not have a great excuse, so you have to look at the coach in their case.
I think it is not rocket science to try figure out why Brisbane and cowboys are flying high at the top of the ladder when you look at their rosters, parra I don't think are the only ones fudging the books. :astonished:

Good Ole Josh Massoud never misses a tackle…

Tackle Six – Goodwill booked with the boss
Is this a sign of who’s in the good books with the powers that be at Wests Tigers?

Last Thursday night chairwoman Marina Go launched a book at Dymocks in the city.

It was an invitation-only affair – and only a handful of types from the club attended.

They included coach Jason Taylor, football manager Mark O’Neill, as well as senior players Dene Halatau and Matt Ballin.

Go has been a staunch supporter of Taylor’s and it’s difficult to see him leaving while she’s still in charge.

Funny, the whole crew who went to the launch from the club, we could do without all of them.
