Jersey Talk

God I hope so. šŸ™„

My annual rant... May as well copy paste it, but here we are.

I know I'm in the vast minority, but I'm sick and tired of minor iterations of the same jerseys year after year; It's boring and the reveals are always so underwhelming.

I know, tradition and all that... but the tigers' colours are as good as any - if not the best in the NRL - to work with, yet the club insists on clinging to superficial symbols of the past (chevrons, magpie on shoulders).

Imo, every year the club's best looking jersey is the indigenous one or if not that, the Anzac one.

There is massive opportunity to sell a lot of jerseys if they would just give it a contemporary look that would be worn in public without screaming "sports jersey".

I'm in my 50's, and I do not get around rocking a tigers jersey....

ā€ŠUnpopular, but personally I would introduce a completely chevron, magpie and Balmain tiger-free alternative jersey to be worn a couple of times a year to gauge sales and minimise any outcry. Then slowly see less and less of the "old school but it's 2025" type.

Inch by inch, so no one really notices... That's how every evil plan works!

I think the club needs to get with the times and put more focus on stuff that will sell, so that it is actually seen outside of an nrl stadium. Exposure grows brands, which grows clubs.

I'd also be pushing a "WT" monogram (a la the NY Yankees) for general merch more too, as it is more understated and suitable to be worn around by people of any age.

I know it's not the consensus, but this is just my view.
Dont mind this....but what is contemporary and what in place of Vs?

Im in my 60s and dont wear jerseys havent bought one for 20 years...polos or training tees now for me

I like the monogram idea and W & T are very parralel letters could work something very good with them.

Im looking for fresh and cool for the Next Gen of Fans that are rediscovering the Tigers as we become successful again.
It’s an underrated part of running a club but a good jersey I think helps the club market to new fans and convincing fans to buy merch, eg I was at Leichhardt for the cows game and so many young fans including myself were all in that sexy heritage shirt, whereas I don’t see many in the home and away shirts from the last few years.

Exactly this. 😊

Contemporary = anything people would/could wear out and about I suppose.

I guess I'm just of the mindset I'd like them to wear something symbolic of a singular "Wests Tigers" entity that doesn't see old fans of either former club upset because it has a tiger and no mgpie, or there is no white on the jersey....

This season's was a pastiche of both old clubs with a sprinkling of 2005 that to me felt like it had a check list to fill and ended up being another forgettable patchwork quilt of appeasement....

I really like the antique monogram incorporated into a modern design, but given WT has only been around since 2000, probably wouldn't suit.

Pepper out of the box lol.

I now also think they are releasing the jersey Monday.

I think that is pretty poor form tbh
Competition may have driven this with other clubs releasing their 26 jersey designs this week. Don't want to fall behind. Not sure of production timeframes but it must be important for clubs to deliver on pre-Xmas orders too.

Seems we aren’t the only ones doing jersey reveal teasers. I just drove past a massive billboard with a close up of a Souths jersey and the words ā€œ2 days to goā€.

Then why have a jersey launch after you release the design.
