Sadly passed away this morning aged 45\. He seemed like an allround nice guy who worked relentlessly to help the club he loved survive. And his approach to his illness was inspiring. A sad loss…

I dont know much about him except after he got sick. The way he fought and continued to project himself whilst raising money was awe inspiring.

Felt sad when I heard he had passed this morning. Inspirational Australian battler. RIP.

Champion. As Kevin Sheedy eloquently said, Australia is a better place for him immigrating here. Before he was sick he was revered by the AFL community, afterwards he was truely inspirational.

Champion player for Melbourne and champion bloke.

The best overseas player to play AFL and inspired fellow Irishman to come and play the game.

rest in peace legend.

Its a very sad day with the passing of this magnificent man. He lived a very public battle against cancer raising awesome awareness for the fight against this terrible disease. RIP Jim Stynes.

Very, very sad. Whilst the AFL community has no doubt lost a very important man, a wife has lost her husband and some children have lost their daddy … RIP Jim Stynes and most sincere condolences to his family and friends

Thought Garry Lyon spoke really well on the AFL show about Jim Stynes.

The AFL footy show is a million times more professional than ours unfortunately

x 2 Suzie you nailed it

Akermanis comments were disgusting They should ban him from any involvement in the game fullstop

Jim Stynes has left such a legacy and the way he conducted himself during his darkest days was so incredible. The fact that his wife said it was quite often Jim keeping her strong when she went to water is amazing. The love and admiration Gary Lyon showed for Stynes during that tribute on the AFL Footy was spine tingling stuff and gave us all an insight into the type of legend he was. RIP Jimmy Stynes….

Akermanis is an out and out tool.

His explanation of his comments somewhat lessen the stupidity, but he needs to think before he talks.

Currently watching his funeral Hearing "Danny Boy" gets me every time at people who I know who have played at their Funerals RIP Jimmy Hope I can say at the end that I was half the man you were May God Bless your family
