Warriors & Rabbitohs bid RTS farewell

The balcony in the top left of the photo looks clear, I think these guys are safe.

The Jet was told to keep off balconies because of a previous indiscretion, whereas those performing the Haka are doing so because of previous tradition? Would it be different if RTS was getting married? IDK?

I'm not sure of your point?

Are you saying because it's a tradition (the guy was leaving the comp early), you won't become a spreader of Covid?
But a player by himself on a balcony will destroy the planet? He copped headlines, a fine and a game ban, I know rules are rules, but the QLD Govt has since rescinded this one?

It's hypocrisy at it's finest.

If you’re looking for a point, it’s that I don’t find it all that serious in the scheme of things, due mainly to the continual mixed messaging surrounding Covid and the vax. I agree with your point regarding the hypocrisy, but at the same time, this pandemic has highlighted a flaw in our system of government and it’s capability to deal seamlessly with such a threat, similarly with UK and USA, but unlike China.

Can anyone confirm if Jimmy's suspension and fine will be washed given the restrictions have been lifted?

Surely a large group of NZers from various teams poses a much greater risk of an outbreak than one bloke getting fresh air on his balcony? Maybe the key detail is they all walked out their front doors to attend, not break the duct tape holding their balcony door shut.

Yea the flaw is politicians are corrupt , and will do just about anything to prop themselves up , to maintain thier seat .
Like Scotty from marketing clearly having some deals in place , with company’s like astra Zeneca , or potentially cleaning giants like Johnson and Johnson , that help them profit from the delayed rollout of the vaccine .
Seriously we should have nurses walking down streets sticking needles in peoples arms . Carpet bombing Australia like they did in the UK. You don’t want the jab? Cool , here’s a fine and you will remain in isolation/ lockdown until you get the jab . It seems fascist , but how is it any different to school mandated vaccinations prior to kindergarten?
.
How hard would it be ? You get 3 people walking a suburb jabbing streets systematically , you’d have the whole suburb done in a week or 2 at most .

I don’t know where I sit I regards to whether this is some big conspiracy, or whether the whole Covid thing has been proportional in Australia . But this is mainly how lucky we are geographically in regards to most the developed world .
I’m sure Europe arnt thinking this whole things a joke. And that’s the issue I guess . We’ve done an OK job up until now , that we think that’s good enough , and it’s made us all apathetic to the whole thing .

I can assure you some in Europe 100% look at our current situation in Aus as a joke. My wife's family are from Russia and Germany, a couple of countries hit very hard by COVID and they can't understand how badly our Government has dropped the ball with the vaccine roll out. Over there it's nearly like the old schoolyard rule "No Hat No Play". You don't have the jab you don't have your freedom. Whilst that's a fairly draconian approach and certainly not surprising for Russia however it has largely worked.

The players are out of their quarantine period. James Roberts isn't.

He wasn't punished for breaking quarantine though, he was punished for utilizing his balcony after they'd been advised not to. I still feel a large group of people all huddled together poses a far greater risk than Jimmy getting some fresh air alone on his balcony.

The balcony being closed was a condition of his quarantine though. I agree the Roberts suspension was too much but the argument you are making against it isn't the right argument.

Was it actually specifically a requirement of his quarantine though? There's been no mention of it to date by the NRL has there? It was a requirement for him based on the players/families who were passing items to other rooms via their balconies. As a result of their activity the doors were taped shut for all not just Jimmy.

They should have sent the families/players who were mingling between balconies home, instead of banning everyone else from getting fresh air.

No they shouldn't, the rule was that big a joke that the families that were passing items were actually allowed to eat together and share a common room. The rule was all about optics for the Queensland government.

It's not wise to be saying '100%' when I'm sure there's no evidence to support that claim.

The reality is, we should have done better with vaccination but we haven't because the general population became complacent.

There are three issues at play:

1) a shortage of Pfizer which was caused by distribution issues - doses ordered were held back for Europe. We're still trying to catch up but our low case numbers puts our priority lower than countries with massive problems.

2) Reported problems with AZ which ironically started in Europe. Remember they were the first region to stop AZ vaccines due to clots. We have rivers of AZ but convincing the masses to have it is proving difficult.

3) People believe there is no rush to be vaccinated. Anecdotally, many people have no issue being vaccinated but because our case numbers have been so low (remember only a month ago we'd had a long run of zero cases) there's been no rush to get a vaccine. The hesitancy is from people procrastinating in the hope they'll get their preferred vaccine.

The perception that countries like Russia, Germany, the UK, USA etc think we're doing poorly is laughable. We're on target to have the entire population vaccinated by November. I would much rather it be done now but to hold European countries as metric for success against COVID is misguided.

Yesterday
Russia 23,270 new cases and 799 deaths
Germany 2766 new cases 25 deaths
Australia 252 new cases 2 deaths

Totals
Russia 6,218,502 cases and 156,977 deaths
Germany 3,772,307 cases 92,131 deaths
Australia 33,726 cases 923 deaths

Vaccination rate
Russia - 16.4%
Germany - 51%
Australia - 14%

We've dropped the ball on vaccines but still way ahead of most countries. Maybe your wife's family need to consider the big picture.

I struggle to see how we'll even go close to having entire population vaccinated by November when Pfizer is still nowhere in sight. For general interest sake I attempted to book at multiple facilities around Sydney and Central Coast for Pfizer with mid October the quickest I could get it and that's even if I was eligible which apparently I'm not.

My point is with such a huge percentage of the population (mostly those under 60) holding out for Pfizer it's going to be months and months before we even make a dint in the the unvaccinated percentage.

Correct, been medically advised not to however at the same time still don't qualify for Pfizer.
