Job @ Wests Tigers

If only they were looking for a web developer

the current website is so bad, from an online marketing pov its actually causing me physical pain.

nevermind the mindboggling decision to go with [www.weststigersshop.com.au](http://www.weststigersshop.com.au)

Wow. Dream job that one.
I fit the bill on most of that stuff (a few of the software I'd have to get myself up to speed on again - a few versions behind). It'd have to be a decent salary to convince my fam to move from Melbourne (where we've only been for a year & quite settled now) if I was accepted. aargh >_<

The websites are on a network, all the clubs have the same skeleton site and they add content and branding stuff centrally, so I doubt they'll ever have an in-house web developer.

If you think the front face of the website is bad. You should see the back end CMS stuff. It's pretty shocking. I thought it would be off clean and looked presentable, but I was wrong. It looks like a hack job with a 90s feel to it.

But as you say, the internal guy will not touch the look and "feel" of the website. I would imagine the HTML knowledge is just for formatting posts and not editing websites overall.

Having said all that, seeing the advertisement got me interested but I'm not getting my hopes up for a successful application to this dream job.

Surprised they're organised enough to have a CMS, I figured they'd write them as standalone HTML pages and then upload them.

Few years back the site wasn't on the telstra bigpond network, might be a sponsorhip thing via the NRL ,but who knows.

Think it would be the same as the AFL (I work with the GWS Giants on their advertising and brand collateral). All of their websites and apps are streamlined and come from Bigpond due to them owning the internet rights to the league. The clubs don't mind it for the templates they get to use as they're quick and streamlined but yeah they're not very professional looking

I just had a look at the other roles on that sports people website (didn't know about that so thanks for the link) and the Fan Engagement co-ordinator role seems up my alley. it might be a rung where I'm at now in the advertising world but i'm hoping the translation to marketing may have the salary at about an even keel!

I had an interview there this afternoon for the fan engagement co-ordinator. role sounded awesome so pretty excited about possibly joining the club!!! should get an update next week

good luck in your job application as a web site developer it would be a great improvement on the current WT one we have.

The WT site is running in the foreground of the NRL website, there's only so much they can do to it.

Good luck with it Max, you could well be living the dream.

Congrats with getting an interview, Max. Actually getting to the interview stage is the hardest part these days, so well done. Hope it went really well for you.

Well done Max ,its all about getting your foot in the door and then supplying the charm

I haven't done an interview for years , but I used to have to go for a walk before the interview to walk off my nervous energy

Bit like preparing for a game actually

Got told by 3 employers that hired me that my last line before walking out had secured me the job

Used to say " If you give me a chance , I will prove to be an important asset" Businesses like hearing about assets especially in this day and age
