Saw the interview with John Farragher last night on Sterlo On The Couch, what a fantastic man.
For those that mightn't know he was a Penrith player in 1978 who broke his neck in a scrum and ended up a quadriplegic.
I remember hearing of him and his accident in the past but had never seen him interviewed or anything.
In an age where low-life human beings masquerading as 1st grade footballers gain all the headlines, John Farragher is a fine example of a man who has tried his best after being dealt a tragic card. The way he spoke of the joy of conceiving his son after his accident and his love for him was a truly touching moment.
Fantastic interview with a fantastic man, my hat is off to you John Farragher, you are a true champion.

Does he stil work at Penrith Leagues?
Used to see him on the door where you sign in.

He does…

Was a very good interview...harbours no ill will toward the game,,,

Was given the gift of a son when told it probably never happen..

I caught that too. He was around the club for the few years when I was graded there and a nicer bloke you will not meet. He is a genuine, nice guy. I have never heard a bad word about him, or from him. Penrith have looked after him well as they should have, and he has returned their kindness by being a top notch representative at the club. Good to see him still going so well.

One of the best Rugby League interviews I've seen. A very good job by Sterlo.
For someone who has had more than his fair share of bad luck in life he comes across as a very positive person.

How something can change your life …..

Didn't know the story about the trial at Parramatta that got cancelled

Seems like a truly classy gentleman

If there is a lot more chance of neck injuries if more than one tackler then restrict to one tackler at a time. If the runner can still get the ball out well that is okay, a more open flowing game how it used to be.
