John grant

The threads got nothing to do with Grant's ability, it's a thinly disguised, typically ignorant critique of Rugby, with the usual smart ar.. references to defence. You guys have little or no idea. If one game has limited series of efforts to obtain field position, it's natural that there will be constant collisions, particularly when there is a need to run direct lines, as happens in tackles one to four. The other game doesn't rely on that strategy, it is fluid and possession is not a limited advantage. But don't you worry about that, it's much easier to criticise what you don't underrstand

I wouldn't call it a slight against Union CT.

He needs to go through a process of mindset change. On the weekend he put in a sideline drive kick (just scraped the line) that almost came off but it was certainly a percentage, field possesion play that you would find in Union. It takes time to adapt to the nuances of each game when switching

Unfortunately I can see how a percentage, field possession play would be completely out of place in our team :frowning:

& no, i'm not calling for his immediate inclusion in firsts, I agree with Smeg that the nuances will take time, but some of the posts in this thread really are written as if people want him to fail.
