I think Benji, Shaun M & Pat Richards know this is crunch time for the Marshall era ... it's an experienced assistant coach both for Benji's development & for optics or it's BUST!Fully expect someone like Bryce Gibbs or Beau Ryan to get brought in while also retaining Hodgson and that finals-costing moron Heighnington.
We’ll have the whole lunch club back together.
If the truth is option 1, then keep the assistants and punt Benji. As you say, the assistants are ignored with this option meaning Benji would be the sole problem.Hopefully Johnny ‘Cronk’ Morris is just the first to go. Benji's other 2 assistants, Hodgo and Heighno should be following him out the door.
There are only two explanations for what we watched this year, and neither reflects well on them.
Either they saw the same glaring problems everyone else could see week after week, raised them with Benji and were ignored because he had the final say. If that’s the case, they’re powerless yes-men occupying seats and adding absolutely nothing.
Or worse ------ they DID have a voice and simply failed to recognise or fix those problems themselves. If that’s the case, they’re incompetent.
Pick one.
Powerless or incompetent.
Because you don’t get to be part of a coaching staff that repeatedly serves up the same problems all season, watches nothing meaningfully improve, and then somehow escapes accountability.
What exactly did Hodgo and Heighno contribute this year? What improved because of their coaching? Where is the evidence they made this football team better?
If the answer is nothing, then why the hell are they still there?
Changing one assistant and pretending the job is done would be pathetic. If the Tigers are genuinely serious about fixing this mess, stop protecting jobs and start demanding results.
Morris gone. Hodgo and Heighno next.
Zero improvement. Zero excuses. Zero reason to keep them.
Fully expect someone like Bryce Gibbs or Beau Ryan to get brought in while also retaining Hodgson and that finals-costing moron Heighnington.
We’ll have the whole lunch club back together.

Gary on one of the Pods, and to be fair Gazza seems to have pretty good intel on the club@davey_farrell where'd you hear Pat Richards is doing the review?
Your first sentence worries me if no other heads roll.Morris is a class act.
Surely hes a better staffer than Heini & Hodgo but alas, hes the first to go.
Good luck with what's next.
Hopefully we've identified some one who can assist our shortcomings.
True, though if they have more than 2 braincells to rub togeather, theyll tell Benji, whoever you bring in youll want them to be pretty experienced to help you. Dont worry about if they might take your job, cause another season like thos one and they will. So you dont have anything to lose. Thats if they have more than 2 braincells to rub togeather. This is the issue, the club is now paying the piper for putting on a dreadfully inexperienced coach.
Was meant to have done a two year apprenticeship under Sheens which even then is as lean as it comes, but wound up only doing 8 months after we sacked Sheens again.
"Here's the keys, don't crash it."
Never understand why people join the club & within 6 months they’re parachuted to another roleSome interesting developments over the past week makes me think Tyrone McCarthy MAY well be in the mix for the Assistant Coach role (or is leaving the club).
1. Tyrone McCarthy has been Pathways Coaching Director for the WT since May (in addition to NSW Cup coach part-time). Yes that is his title as per his Linkedin profile.
2. Wests Tigers have just advertised for a Pathways Coaching Director. (see below)
3. Benji asked Tyrone to present Vaka Aho with his debut jersey with Vaka's parents (yes he has been his Cup coach all season but still)

The forst thing we need to fix is punting Richards and bringing on an experienced GM of football. Once we get a proper GM of football everything will be sorted by them.I am blown away by the nepotism at this club!!! Pat Richards is in charge of the season review..What experience has he got, Benji got him a job this year, now he is head of football!!! What experience has Pat got in the running of a football club. Bugger all I bet!!! I am blown away by the boys club in this so called organisation. So Pats in charge of the review, can you imagine him going hard on Benji or his 05 buddies. Our attack is a disgrace and Hodgo is in charge of that yet nothing said about him. I am not sure what Heigno does so it would be unfair of me to give it to him and the role he plays within the four walls. Benji, I am still shaking my head that he got an extension, yes the club was in freefall and the idiots gave him an extension when not one other club were after him, not even as an assistant.
In my opinion, he is way to close to certain players in the club, he has a senior player tell him Im not playing this week cause he wants him to play a different position, then back tracks within minutes and tells Adam no you can play halfback and Adam said nah, im out this week!! Could you imagine that happening at a professional club and telling that to Wayne, Trent or Craig!!
Didnt Benji state on the doco at the start of the season if you dont hit the standards expected your out the door, Adam says he is not playing, yea great punishment there, gets picked at halfback the following week so he gets his way!!!
He picks Javon to play on the right when he is a left sided player in Canberra, not even a home game. The poor kid gets his debut but its blown up by the Adam Benji feud. Then Javon is never seen in first grade again for the rest of the season.
Benji continually picked Javone when he decided to go to PNG, yes I totally agree to let him leave at the end of the season, the one thing he actually got right. (though we are paying Parra 500k).
14 Games this year he plays Latu in every position but 1/2 back. He plays a 1/2 a game in the last game of season (yes i know he was on restricted minutes) as a 1/2 back and its the best we have looked in so so long.
Every press conference I am so proud of the boys, well I am sick of hearing Im proud of the boys, get wins not "the boys gave it a crack but came up shorts but Im proud of them"
Now i hear Pat is doing the review, My God!!! Get someone external from the club to conduct a proper review. Do we really think Pat is going to give it to Benji about his coaching or how the club is being run.
I am so fed up with the boys club approach at this club, Sean make this club professional and make me proud to be a supporter cause I am getting very very tired of this rubbish that we keep producing.
Fellow forum readers, I am sorry for this rant, as I love being on here reading all your comments everyday, but I am just so sick of this unprofessional club, as many say we are a sleeping giant, well can we just wake up as I so tired of being asleep!!
Have to but I don’t like our chancesThe forst thing we need to fix is punting Richards and bringing on an experienced GM of football. Once we get a proper GM of football everything will be sorted by them.
Oh how id like to think that. But, everything Benji gas done prior to this says no. Having said that I hope WT management have put the blow torch to his feet with as you say crunch time.I think Benji, Shaun M & Pat Richards know this is crunch time for the Marshall era ... it's an experienced assistant coach both for Benji's development & for optics or it's BUST!
