People forget Hodgo coached reserve grade and an abysmal Huddersfield team to a respectable finish 2 years in a row before getting moved on .
He then coached at rugby international level for a couple of years . He has far more runs on the board than Shane sultana .
And I think sultana has what it takes to eventually be an nrl coach . My guess is , Benji knows how he wants the team to attack , and hodho for better or worse has been implementing that system . Personally I think we should pivot , but I’m just a mug on a forum . What do I know .
In all fairness though . The defensive systems are shit . And have been for a few years now . The edges seem confused all the time . Which either says it’s not thorough enough or it’s too in depth and hard to get right .
Defense is not that hard though if they’re rucking out of thier box every set . Really we need to work out consistent ways of making that happen . And yes the backs need to be better at starting sets and the forward need to be better tackles 3-5 , but tackle 6 kicking has to be in that box more often than not , with some air time . With madden at half and AD pretty inaccurate IMO , we seem to lack that consistency .
I’m gonna get blasted for this … but I’d take one of Brooks or Fogarty for a couple of years to do just that . Engage the line , take short sides when they’re on , and get the ball wide early tit he thoroughbreds . Both those guys have strong boots on them . It’s funny because a few years ago people hate don brooks for constantly 6 and bombing to the corner (the box) .. I wish we had that consistency .
