JT said on tonights sports news he is looking for the big bucks after his contract is finished with the Cowboys, either with NRL or RU.However the Cowboys will be very keen to keep him and up the ante.Wouldn't it be nice to see him at half back for West Tigers with Marshall at five eight and Farrah in the forwards, awesome side.I think JT is off contract end of 2010…

There is no way that we would be able to afford the likes of Benji, Farah, Ellis, Heingington and JT under the salary cap. Not to mention we have players who are gonna cost alot more come the next time there off contract including Lawrence, Galloway and Tuiaki.

Im happy to keep Moltzen and hopefully Tumata for half the $$$$

Though Benji and JT would be leathal…..

If he's looking for big bucks then surely he'll go to RU or head overseas. I wouldn't want him at the Tigers anyway.

i dont like the guy at all
but he is the best half back in the world, plus he doesnt bring down a team due to troubles…

the positives would out do the negatives in him...

but aint gonna happen.. i think he will go to the Dogs.. he ws gutted when he had to leave there..

Should we really be surprised?

I dont like him but in saying that, I can see where he is coming from and good luck to him!

At least we'll finish above the Cowboys every year then.

It does suck that we can't afford to pay the top players the top amount of money. However, exceptions can't be made. Either JT signs with a NRL club and is happy with his pay or he goes to the other code and we move on. Either way this shouldn't hold the spotlight that it does.

Sack everyone that plans on wearing 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 12, 13, on their back as a career choice. Sign Thurston. Pay the lions share of the salary cap to him, Marshall, Farah, a good fullback, Galloway, Ellis and sign another good forward and promote a bunch of reserve graders to fill the bit part positions on match payments each year. Sorry TNT, Lawrence, Heighington, Moltzen (unless you become a good fullback) etc. but I feel like Marshall, Farah, Thurston a Fullback and two great forwards (MAYBE three) would be enough to go with reserve graders to win a premiership. For instance.

1\. Josh Dugan
2\. Junior Roqica
3\. Rhys Pritchard
4\. Nu Akeripa
5\. Joel Jackson
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Johnathan Thurston
8\. Keith Galloway
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. Fui Fui Moi Moi
11\. Gareth Ellis
12\. Willie Mataka
13\. Matt Hyland

14\. Jared Farlow
15\. Al Schirnack
16\. Andrew Fifita
17\. David Gower

If any of the bit parters want a contract bump, they can move on. By then there'll be more bit parters to fill their spots. Cruel but I feel it would be effective. You can't tell me that team doesn't look damn good and probably salary cap efficient too.

To be fair, this isn't really something I've thought through and I'd probably be too nostalgic and gutted to ever let TNT, Lawrence et al go and be happy about it.

Thurston is a highly overrated, highly paid spoilt brat who should do all League followers a favour and join Union or ESL..and kiss the NRL and Australia goodbye forever!…he played to his usual crap standard on the Kangaroo tour.

This is the damage done by Union and it's poaching of NRL players. Even though you could be pretty sure Thurston wont really go to Union he can position himself for greater contract coin by just mentioning it once.

It would be nothing short of Luxurious, but it won't be happening unfortunately….. :unamused:

I think he could easily play rugby union in Japan ( i think they were discussing something like that a couple of months ago ). maybe he should go there for a year or two, get his groundings of the game, then try a contract for a super 14 team or the wallabies. i think after a while, he'd be a pretty recognised dual international
