Joseph Sualli

There was a bloke that played for Brian Smith's Parramatta in the early 2000s named Danny Sullivan.

He was a giant of a kid. A schoolboy star. Meant to be the next big thing.

But he got rushed through and ended up with really bad injuries, retiring after six first grade games.

Brian Smith himself admitted that the kid didn't have enough experience to protect himself from heavy hits.

The NRL are living in the stone age if they expect that any 17 year old playing NRL isn't a massive risk.

The NFL system requires you be a minimum of three years out of high school before you debut and in those three years, the strength and conditioning staff are putting rookies through some pretty hardcore training programs.

You have to wonder whether the NRL are setting themselves up for a world of legal pain by letting under 18s potentially get belted, after they set a rule up to stop it happening due to previous problems.

Quite simply, it's not about this one player, it's about all the other kids. The rule is there because most kids wouldn't be ready.

Imagine applying for licenses to drink alcohol when you're 17 years and 6 months because you have caring parents and are a mature person :joy:

Did he get a scholarship to Kings school.... Or has his parents paid full fees?

Got the world at his feet... Money, influence, talent, looks...

Be interesting to see how he goes in the top grade

Might even be offered a role in a Lowes ad.

6 foot 5 and 98 kg he could be the new Big Marn.

At Lowes.

I am concerned on this ruling for a number of reasons:

* Concerned for this kids welfare.
* Concerned for lack of care by this kids parents.
* He maybe tall mature and a good weight but are his bones mature and developed enough?
* Concerned because of other youngsters welfare now that a precedent has been set.
* Concerned that I thought the NRL had their finger on the pulse but they haven't.
* Concerned because Roosters get their own way again - would other clubs have been granted dispensation?

A good rule for all the right reasons has now been broken for all the wrong reasons.

Hope you stay safe Joseph because it doesn't seem anyone has your best interest at heart.

You went up and spoke to the barman politely, with a few of your friends, and he thought you seemed a level-headed young lad and served you all up several rounds of midori illusions.

This is dicey, they can now cherry pick who the rules apply to and those it doesn't, compromising the integrity of the NRL. Ok the Rooster got that one through, what happens if we apply and get knocked back, or the Bunnies get one up and the Sharkies don't, it would be like Greenberg all over again.

The difference is the barman is accountable to the business and the Federal Laws. NRL isn't accountable to anyone. They will just make up and modify rules to suit themselves. Fans are mugs, they've reeled us in over decades.

I think the parents may have dollar eyes

Just a guess

I think its all pretty sad really. This is so much pressure on a kid who probably didnt ask for it and therein lies the problem, Id be very surprised if he absolutely knew what this all meant.

I even heard one radio station news bulleting say this morning that the roosters have 'chosen to leave out of this weeks team' the new young gun. I mean, this is a day after its all been done and dusted that they are already heaping pressure on him, and it will get worse every week.

I think roosters, Tigers, or anyone, just leave the rule in place and be done with it. He will get to firsts soon enough if he is good enough. I fail to see why there is always media pressure on one person as if this guy is the next Dally Messenger. Chances are he isn't, but if he is, he will overcome a few months of not playing anyway.

I certainly don't subscribe to the fact Id likek to see him get smashed by Papalii or Taumololo or something to teach him and the Roosters a lesson, that just aint fair. That will happen at some stage anyway.

I watched some of the Norths game on the weekend whilst the KID so the attributes of being a good player,he can leap and take a ball tackle but to me he still looked like a boy playing against men wait till a few big boppers continually run at him or a forward comes 3rd man in like the Lucy's incident on the weekend it will be interesting how long it take for the Rorters to be calling for protection for him if they do they should be fined for bring the game into disreput
