OFFICIAL Josese Lanyon #310

great debut played well he will be good off the bench when korisau comes back
Suited to the bench as more versatile than Hope as he has played a bit of lock as well. Still a lot of improvement before considered more than a back up hooker. Good to have someone who can come on and maintain solid defence

Been a while since a Polynesian #9 has really came through... ?

I liked his involvement and energy.
Looked gassed on occasion, so hopefully he works on that.

Otherwise, impressive first hit out.

Really held his hands up
- a lot to like about the kid..

He’s been mentioned here for sure - maybe Balmain Boy or BWT (?)

He’s certainly progressing quickly…
Wonder if we keep him about for this season,
does that mean someone has to go?
Hope will go

He better left to right than vice versa...good off the deck this way

R to L he seems to be a bit slower

But yeah he was good....its always.tough for a.rookie when.they go.well on debut and then find it hard to keep at that level...the week to week grind is a massive step up.
We here tend to expect exponential improvement from young blokes ...its not that easy especially in a team like ours

Manase might have been the last quality Polynesian #9

People might be getting a bit carried away. He was sound only, and that's not a bad thing for a debut. We have a set low bar with Hope.
Defence was good. Offensively was zero threat at the ruck passing or running. Passing game was sound only. Only ran once from memory. Zero kicking. One error and one set restart.

JMK goes alright - might see a bit of him this arvo.

Bit of talk around him being able to play at lock - he’s not real big though,
dunno that will be a long term spot for him…

Not sure what size Josese Lanyon is. But there is a real place for smaller mids (if they are good enough) Max Plath has been going well for Qld & the Phins.
Height 178 cm (5 ft 10 in) Weight. 87 kg. Position. Hooker, Lock, Second-row.

He's deceiving.
He's 185cm tall, but yeah, he could add some muscle.

I'm a big fan of the hooker/lock type like Kurt Donoghoe, Ray Stone. Hopefully this kid can become that role for us. Value bench option.

I think that height is deceiving,
I stood by him - he’s not that tall….

He’s not as big as I thought (hoped) he might be

Looked taller than Benji when they stood side by side.

I see what you're saying though.
Stature isn't as bulk as you'd expect.

See what happens.
