“As part of the release, Wests Tigers have also agreed to an undisclosed commercial settlement with Josh’s new club.“

They got something from manly, no idea what.

So they officially received something from Manly.

Sounds like it which is good. They were never going to get a player swap that was unrealistic I though but at least some money or something. Still think we could’ve made a statement but oh well can understand their reasons and they got something at least.

Aloiai officially released by WT. Weak by the club.

Why is it weak? Seems they were compensated.

Could have been $10 as far as we know. If someone like Blore has a breakout season and is considered undervalued, he’ll know he can get out of the contract if he kicks up a fuss.

Lee should have held firm. I agree with managements decisions over this offeason but this is a mistake IMO.

I would like a statement directed at the NRL and the rules around this but it is unlikely

Could be $200k, you don't know.

PVL doesn’t seem to like players breaking contracts early for more money. Problem is the RLPA will never agree to it.

I highly doubt it, Manly as a club barely have two dollars to rub together, and they’re paying him way overs already. I would have made him stay and play.

In saying that, happy with the Joe O signing.

Need to attach it to the salary cap negotiations, if we remove players breaking contracts and signing 12 months in advance the salary cap could be set higher than if the current system remains.

I wouldn't he has disrespected the club, he may not want to wear our jersey again and that doesn't bother me because after his carry on I don't want to see him in it again either.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Aloiai has behaved like an absolute imbecile. He was one of my favourite current WT players. I just don’t agree with releasing him. I can see your point of view though, I just don’t agree with it.

Regardless, happy we have Joe O on board. We’re a second rower away from a pretty good pack.

Me too. If we can get Roberts and Joe O back to their old form they’ll be fantastic signings.

We love to let players hit contract years lock them up before November. I don’t buy this story. If true make him stay and don’t release anyone until their contract ends.

Don’t understand why we’ve let everyone stay unsigned past November 1st. Just opens the door for other clubs to steal them away from us

We have been doing this forever. Players have to want to stay to sign before they are free agents. That’s been our problem for a very long time. They stay for an opportunity and once a good first grader they leave.

So frustrating. It’s a never ending cycle

I sense this is nonsense to be fair. Aloai has been given opportunity and looks like a happy camper. It makes zero sense we would not upgrade him. No other team can therefore he can’t earn as much leaving. It’s come out now that Fox has been taken off the table managers know Tigers have money to spare. I’d be shocked if we can’t retain players.

With all these young talented players that we’ve managed to obtain along with our own promising junior’s, surely Josh see’s the future is looking very promising for the WT.

And to add to that I’m sure that we will manage to jag a key signing or 2 over the next 12/18mths (as we will have the money to do so) and all of a sudden it’s a whole new ball game for the WT.

So why would anyone who has put in so much blood sweat and tears over the last couple of years want to leave just as the future is looking so bright for the WestsTigers?

Bright? What have we done that gives you that impression?

Anyone who thinks the WT are weak by letting go a disgruntled employee have obviously never been in that type of work environment where that employee can cause so much disharmony and distrust amongst a group of people. The guy said he would never put on the WestsTigers jersey again, so how the hell can you trust someone with that mentality to be around the playing group without causing issues?

He’s not the loss Matterson was. Not even close. Joe Offa is actually a significant upgrade. We got ourselves an Origin player. Giddy up.

No 'Weakness' shown by releasing JA. WE released him because it suited US to do so.

We recruited a subsidised player who plays in the same position (Some would say a better player who offers more versatility).

Therefore, no detriment to us in releasing him.

Club moves forward no worse off (Potentially better off) - yet people wanna bag the club.

Were the roosters weak when they let Latrell walk without any financial consideration?
