I think you are referring to Jordan Kahu who was from Keebra, signed by the Tigers but sought a release to play with the Broncos before ever leaving Brisbane

Yeah but I think the motivation for that was "please don't replace me with Barba I really want to be here". Besides which, it was against Parramatta - not to say it wasn't an impressive effort but if it was against Melbourne or something it's be a considerably bigger 'I'm a good fullback' statement.
