Josh Mansour

all the talk on tele last night was what incredible talent the panthers have coming through their juniors.this is nothing new of course, but it could benefit westigers to be in the wings,so to speak.
not neccesarily mansour but the five eight who came into the side late last year and has a bad injury.whatever his name was.
no to mansour for me.

No to Mansour at the money he'll be wanting.

Like others have said, a first class fullback should be a priority and Thompson can go back to wing. Then Nofo, MWZ and Fonua can fight it out for the other wing spot. And if we want to throw all that out the window, JAC of course.

I think you were talking about Tyrone May.

I watched a bit of the panthers reserve grade team last week and I was impressed by another young half called Jarome Luai.

May's name was thrown around as coming here last year…
He's solid.

But yeah the commentator's.mentioned Penrith SG ball is all 18 yr old guns who will be jumped into state cup easily and be fringe first grades by end of year.

Doing it right out in the Riff.

We need a class no1 and a class centre before we start throwing money at a winger. No use painting inside to you fix the roof.

I have always been impressed by Luai. I am surprised he has not got a first grade gig yet.

I heard Mansour is after 700K as well, not worth that sort of loot & i am convinced Cleary wouldnt offer anything like that. he isnt even a goal kicker. Would rather chase Oates from the Broncs.

If I had the choice of Mansour for 4 years, or Brett Morris for 2, I'd take Morris every day. Now I'm not saying Brett is someone we should sign, we need to look to younger players IMO. I'm just starting that I feel a cheaper 2 year deal for someone with so much heart like Morris would be better value then a big 4 year deal for someone like Mansour. Both Morris boys are still playing well.

If he wants 700k as Darryl Kerrigan would say - Tell him he's dreaming

Judging by our signings with IC there is NO way they will pay that sort of money for a winger.. 450K is the most i would think.
I would rather put that money to Broncos winger as he is safe and also kicks goals.

I think people underestimate the value of good wingers in todays game. In saying that If I was to go large, Mansour is not that player.

Any club that pays him 700k are idiots. He’s never on the field.

Normally such notions of injury-plagued footballers are an over-reaction, but in Mansour's case, actually quite fair.

In 7 seasons for Penrith he's only played more than 15 games twice - 22 in 2014 and 25 in 2016\. That's 4/6 completed seasons with 15 or less games played (14, 14, 12, 15).

6 so far this year and perhaps not too many more.

The bloke is 27 and frankly we aren't short for wingers right now. Save the money and invest where it's needed - centre, classs backrower, class prop.

Mansour is a good buy at 400-450k although I'm sure he can get more than that elsewhere

I wouldn't sign him. He's not getting any younger and he's not fast. Plus he had a horrible injury to his face where he fractured 3 bones in his face and will put him out until the end of the season. So I wouldn't go spending 650k on him let alone 450k.

Wait, were talking about signing him not dating him? who cares what his face looks like!

Agreed except we NEED CLASS WINGERS!

We need a solid defender one side, someone who can stop our try leakage. When we were focused on defense we did not leak points. Now were leaking 4 tries a game and loosing.

Agreed we need to get a good winger. It's funny how JAC is probably the player we would want this year. Last year it was all about the "big 4", yet I would take JAC or even Marty Taupau over Moses, Tedesco or Woods.

A good winger gets those 50/50 tries. A good winger does not let their opposite run over them.

I think the WT needs to invest in a winger defensive coach. NOFO is leaking tries, perhaps we can coach defense into him…
But I think we need another winger.

Mansour is not a 650K winger. Phil "scrouge McDuck" Gould is not going to be paying him 400K, let alone 650K.
