WOW another loss for Wests SG Ball this time to Western Sydney Academy. They should really be doing a lot better than they are.

Great to see Balmain, even with a soft draw, putting teams away and staying unbeaten. Can't wait till they face off against each other next week.

For all the stuff the club has got wrong in the past our junior system is not one of them. Add in Keebra Park High and we probably one of the top 2-3 junior development pathways in the NRL. I think Penrith are currently the best.

For someone that many years ago played in the Balmain Junior league they have really turned the program around in the last 5 years and the talent coming through is as good if not better than it was in the 80's (Roach, Ellias, Pearce, Sironen, Brasher etc..) Yes I know some of them came from outside the area eg Roach from Wollongong but we got them as juniors.

I dont know how but Gee Balmain(Wests Ashfield) is doing a splendid job with keeping the tigers two teams on top of the ladder. With such a small junior base to be on top of both competitions Balmain are doing fantastic.

Next weekend should be interesting, Balmain V Wests, particularly the Harold Matthews where Balmain are 6-0 and Wests are 5-1.
Wests might struggle in the Ball, currently 10th and their remaining 3 games against top 8 sides.

Not overly sold on Kimmorley as the NYC coach either, wouldn’t mind seeing Mathew Head get the job, he’s done a great job with the Balmain Ball side since he’s been there.

Balmain have been doing a great job for the past 5 years with there juniors, you can put that down to paul sironen if you like

Balmain have had a dream draw (which makes a huge difference in junior reps)
They have literally played the 5 worst sides .

The Balmain program has over performed for years so they must be doing plenty right, but don't get carried away with this years results yet, a few harder games coming up.

The Matthews side is pretty good, but Parramatta is outstanding. The Ball side will need a lot of luck.

The BDJR is pretty ordinary mate and is dieing a slow death. Yes it's true we have had great success in recent times in the junior reps and I'm not too privy to the goings on at that age. But I do know that numbers are dropping like flies, rules are bent for some clubs to strengthen and others to weaken. Apart from kids not wanting to play anymore there is an issue with kids who want to play but are actually turned away and refused due to inflexible rules for some but these same rules are flexible for others. These kids will either be lost to the game or lost to our district due to stupidity by those running it. It's not a good situation in balmain at the moment with almost 700 kids not playing in 2015 that were playing in 2014.. That a huge number for one district in one year
