There is zero tolerance if a defender comes anywhere near the head.
There is now a precedent in place for allowing an attacker to contact the head. I’m sure the narrative will be Api stuffed up his tackle. That is not the case. He bravely stood his ground and took on a bigger man in a front on tackle. This is the sort of courage Rugby League people applaud. There was no need for the arm bumpers. Tino could have angled his body and bumped him off that way. Instead, he drove his arms into APIs face with force. Now his actions seem vindicated. It is a poor look for the NRL who are claiming player safety is number 1 priority.
As for no penalty….even Fatty and Cam reluctantly conceded he would miss game 2. Their argument was 4 weeks + would be overkill, which is what Joey and Freddy were suggesting.
