Complete and utter joke how Tino is cleared to play after Api breaks his jaw. How does a guy break his jaw in 2 places by apparently running into a player’s arm without some sort of force being applied.Tino is a repeat offender in as many weeks and it seems as though with State of Origin around the corner rules need not apply.
 
There is zero tolerance if a defender comes anywhere near the head.
There is now a precedent in place for allowing an attacker to contact the head. I’m sure the narrative will be Api stuffed up his tackle. That is not the case. He bravely stood his ground and took on a bigger man in a front on tackle. This is the sort of courage Rugby League people applaud. There was no need for the arm bumpers. Tino could have angled his body and bumped him off that way. Instead, he drove his arms into APIs face with force. Now his actions seem vindicated. It is a poor look for the NRL who are claiming player safety is number 1 priority.
As for no penalty….even Fatty and Cam reluctantly conceded he would miss game 2. Their argument was 4 weeks + would be overkill, which is what Joey and Freddy were suggesting.
I’m sure that is not the last we’ll here of this.

Another rule that'll be implemented after we've been negatively affected by it.

Spot on.

Even considering if it was (debatably) accidental, Api still broke his jaw and it doesn't change the fact that it's dangerous. The commentators saying that it would be a great tragedy if he were charged are missing the point here, if players are allowed to run like that it's going to lead to more broken Jaws.

You can guarantee if it happened to Cleary Cook or Moses or someone from the "favoured" clubs that Tino would definately be facing suspension.The attitude seems to be different when something like this happens to various clubs

Api is widely considered one of the stars of the league.
I don’t think this is merely cellar dwellar bias.
I really can’t pinpoint why they made this decision though…it makes no sense when you acknowledge how the administration has cracked down on head contact, due to concussion.

I strongly believe if it was after SOO, he would've been suspended.
 
Should’ve been suspended for the hit on Mahoney which was worse except for the injury outcome.

Get Klemmer running the same way.

If it was JWH he would be lucky to take the field again this year
 
So if you are carrying the ball you can do what you like with impunity. Maybe all 26 players should stick a ball under their arms.. no problem then. The NRL is a corrupt farce..always has been. If I had young kids I certainly wouldn't be having them play League.
 
It is strange they way rules are interpreted. If you’re making a tackle and make contact with the head you’re in big trouble. On the other hand if you make dangerous contact with the head of a defender it’s considered legal contact or just a collision .

I think they are saying it’s okay to use your arm as a bumper bar as long as you don’t lead with your elbow. Of course there is a big difference to using your forearm as a bumper bar and using it to attack a defenders head.

The NRL once again have opened a massive can of worms
 
There are so many anomalies in the NRL rules
1. You cant tackle a defending player in the air from a kick but you can tackle an attacking player in the air. If the ball has bounced, even if the defender is 4 foot in the air, he is fair game ???
2. Players returning a kick off can lead with their shoulder, but the defender cant ?
3. Dony even start me on the voluntary tackle??
4. Taking a quick restart with a player in front of you is an offside play. not a retake of the tap
5. Forming a wall on the 5th tackle is an obstruction
6. There is a shot clock for forming scrums, but the ref usually calls "shot clock off " before it is fed ?

And then we have Annersley fronting up every Monday to justify their mistakes, that is just embarrasing.
