Just remember this about those players leaving.....

Just remember this about those who have signed to go elsewhere.

As far as anyone can tell, rumours aside, not one single player was told their contract has been terminated next year.

Gibbs, Fifita, Moltzen, and others WERE ALL ON AN EXISTING CONTRACT that would have been honoured by Wests Tigers. Some of those players we all agree were on money that is beyond their real worth.

Each either asked, or was told they could look elsewhere and they chose, of their own free will, to look around.

ALL got better contracts elsewhere and took that option. They could have stayed for less money, but chose to move on to get more money.

So those who want to bag Wests Tigers management about punting players, think again. Please spare me the garbage about Player X being "so loyal and not wanting to leave". Guess what princess? Any or all of them could have stayed if they were truly loyal, but they decided to go elsewhere. Now, don't get me wrong….I don't blame them for securing their futures and getting better coin, BUT SPARE ME THE CRAP ABOUT BEING FORCED OUT. YOU MADE THE CHOICE!!!!!

Gee what are you going to do when the boss tells you you can stay if you want but we don't you. Better still you'll probably be playing back with maggies or Bret. It's a bit like your missus saying you can stay if you want but I'm bringing the bloke from next door in for the next 12 months.

I think the point is that they were not sacked, there wasn't blood in the foyer, they were given a **choice**, WITH A FALL BACK if they couldn't get a start elsewhere.

Where else can you get to get that sort of reasonable treatment in today's business world?

Again, I wish them well with their career and thank them for their service, but the CHOICE was their's, not the club's!

But before they signed em for 2014, 2015 etc but then all of a sudden,
they were not part of the plan for the future?
What about Fulton?

The management is taking a gamble,
or simply not stating that they mismanaged the cap and hence players are being ASKED to negotiate elsewhere.

Yeah they could have stayed and we probably would not have signed Blair. So basically these players were told they would more than likely not be resigned when their contracts expired. So they looked around and were tabled offers from other clubs. Then they think "but I love the tigers" and stay. Tigers do not resign them when their contracts expire. So they go back to a rival club and see if their offer is still there. They withdraw their offer because they didnt sign the first time. The player is then forced to find another NRL club willing to sign them or end up in England.

Yes they could have stayed but they are better off leaving a club who doesnt want them and earning themselves a better contract.

Before ego's and primadona status, they would relish the opportunity to go back to reggies and show the coach what they are made of… Its called working harder on your game or re-inventing yourself to fit into the new direction... Sadly those days are gone and now they can just jump on twitter and tell everyone how hard done by they were?!

Sook it up... Before they were professional athletes, they were footballers!!!

ps i hate the qld flood levy :brick:

Those who asked if they could look elsewhere have no comeback especially since it appears that the club allowed them to do so but would be accepted back if unsuccessful based on Swordy's thread. Those who were told they could look elsewhere could be excused IMO if they feel a bit hard done by. In this later case the club has pinpointed them and told them they could look elsewhere, again from Swordy's post, now if that player or players was happy at WTs and hadn't thought of moving on then it would be understandable that they would feel a bit put out having been approached by the club and told they can look elsewhere, if that is what happened to some then it would create discontent. I am only going by my interpretation of the 4th paragraph of Swordy's post.

This is what I am perplexed about, if we let players go to free up cash to pay for our new signings do we assume that excluding Blair the other new signings are coming on for a lot less cash than the ones we are releasing, if not then where is the Club saving money? or are they saying it was a mistake offering them extensions and requesting them to negotiate elsewhere. What would have happened if we did not lose Gibbs or Fifita or Moltzen, would Reddy and Bell been in consideration?

Agree.

Boss to Nix "You can stay if you take a huge pay cut and you can become the janitor, otherwise feel free to look elsewhere as we don't really want you".

Nix "How huge ?"

Boss "How does 50% sound ? And don't forget we don't want you"

Nix "Ummm, bit of a no brainer. Thanks I'll look elsewhere".

Yes it would be my decision to leave, but it's pretty obious my manager doesn't want me there and for that I would blame him, not me for making the decision to go.

I reckon it was more like voluntary redundancy. If no one goes, guess what? Redundancy becomes compulsory…for some...

After all, someone's gotta make way for Blair :smiling_imp:

what a load of garbage!

what ACTUALLY happend

Boss- You can stay here on you current money, however due to the fact we dont need you, if you can do better good luck to you

so 3 blokes left for more money, in fifita case, for about double the money (maybe much more if my unconfirmed source is right, he has reliable info cant confirm it), with longer deals.

The players are better off. Liam fulton could not get a better deal, so he is staying.

I tell you what id love for a boss to give me that option

Good post, Goose! Remember, Sheens said the players left for more money than there were getting at the Tigers. If so, what is the problem?

Weren't some of these guys only signed on extensions this year then told later to look around - we changed our minds , we don't want you now?
That's the unprofessional part.
