Just wait and watch

what i dont get is the way we play in the 1st 20 min then go into our shell we go from been world beaters to park football. i can only guess but is JT curtailing the side after 20 min. if its not him why the hell is he not senting out the message get back to the workd beater stuff, i suspect he is the reason or he would have said there not following intrustions.

The team is predominately made up of relatively young and inexperienced players.

A rookie team will always make mistakes because its from the mistakes that you learn. Its part of growing up.

Notwithstanding, every game this year the Tigers have been in right up to the last whistle. A couple of calls and/or luck with the bounce of the ball and we could well be siting at the top of the table.

Have faith. This team, when it grows, will do us all proud.

We have been all but injury free and have had a pretty good draw in terms of the teams we have had to play and to come up with 3 from 7 is not good enough.

The likes of Souths,Chooks and co who usually start the season a bit scratchy will kick into gear over the next few weeks so I think we are in for a torrid time. The Sharks,Dragons,Titians and Bronks all teams I thought we would be better than are showing a lot more than our mob. I know this is a so called learning year but I think we looked a way better side this time last year.

The tough part of the comp is just around the corner and from what I have seen so far we are in for a shaky few months

For starters players should be picked on form and with this said sirronen and Moses should not be there next week ! This would be a start for the message to be heard loud and clear.

Based on the above comments into account this is certainly not the time to wait and watch as the name of this thread suggests. The club should be buying a senior player or two before the June 30 deadline in order to bolster our ranks to boost morale and be at least competitive for the rest of the year. I cannot see any reason why the club would do this unless of course they have absolutely no money available for this purpose.

Newtown, I think your last sentence explains why we haven't entered the player market. Back ended contracts, coaches contracts terminated early etc, etc, has left the club financially hamstrung. New Board, new coach, new manager of the salary cap = money to spend in the next couple of years.
Patience!

Sam Rapira and Rory O Brien would both bolster our pack, currently playing NSW Cup, you never know what a change of clubs could do to a player. Rapira has a few years left in him, would be quite influential as a senior player, wouldn't cost much so if her underperforms he would go straight back there. Rory Obrien is highly rated, don't understand why he is still in NSW Cup.

Rory O'Brien ?

the guy got dropped from a pretty useless dragons pack after a string of rubbish performances.

He has had one good game his entire career and that was against a second string reserve grade team on the weekend in NSW Cup

No thanks

Sironen has been very good all year.

every game this year we were in a position to win the match we lack finish cant seem to go on with it is it inexperience .I know we lack mongrel get the foot on the throat and take it off

So we sack everyone….or some of them....or what? Hold people accountable, clean out the rot and other buzz phrases.

Not every fan is in the same place as everyone else. Some people are fed up while others are happy to see change coming through.

There are argument for an against both positions.

Its one thing having the money and cap space and at present I doubt we have either, but if we did are we going to be able to attract quality footballers to our club. The NRL is very short on quality players so if and when they come onto the market they can be very selective to where they sign.

I'm not quite ready to write us off just yet , but we aren't probably going as well as many think

Buggers me how JT can get these guys playing for 80 minutes though

Umm by having a team of first graders.
We have a team full of rookies who played most of their time in the NYC. We all know that those games are try-a-thons. 36-34, 30-28, 46-40 … You get the point. Defence is a dirty word.

And we wonder why we run up 20 points and lose.

So correct, and to add to the load we seem to be carrying at least one experienced first grader.

Our patience is wearing thin because the era led by Tim Sheens post 2005 underachieved massively. That is why people are unwilling to wait a further one or two years for this current crop to come to fruition.

The Sheens/Marshall/Farah/Fulton/Heighnton/Gibbs era always promised so much however constantly failed to live up to the hype. We probably should have won another premiership or even two from 2007-2012\. But we didn't and as a result us fans kept getting dealt excuses when the reality was they had the wrong attitude the whole time. We simply couldn't perform consistently and definitely struggled to close out games under pressure.

Fast Forward to 2013-2014 and Potter is brought in to clean out the roster and usher in a new era with players like Heighnton, Beau, Marshall, Gibbs, Utai, Tuqiri amongst others all moved on. The new crop led by Teddy, Moses, Brooks, Siro, Sue, Ava, Woods, Simona, Nofo are all brought in as we enter a new era. No one gave us a chance and everyone including ourselves on this very forum knew we would simply be making up the numbers as the squad built combinations and gained valuable experience. That is fair enough.

Heading into 2015 everyone still predicts that our roster is extremely light on experience. A new coach and administration comes in and finds our salary cap in a huge mess. As a result we can't bolster our squad and thus everyone accepts thats we are to inexperienced to do anything this year. This was probably always going to be another year of making up the numbers whilst we continue to build. Even the great Gus Gould quotes in one of his SMH articles "This is a team of the future".

Before the season, everyone knew we would be making up the numbers and many were struggling to see how we were going to win games. We were always going to be great one day and horrible the next. That was one of the most popular lines heading into 2015.

This year however we have been brilliant for 20 minutes and horrible for the remaining 60\. Yet people are going off their heads when what we predicted unfolds exactly. We were never ever going to compete consistently this year and I think we have punched way above our weight this season after 7 rounds.

I know we keep hearing that "we will be a great team eventually" and we are getting sick to death of it. But don't let the mistakes of the Sheens era dictate our emotions now. If we had of lived up the hype and won a premiership from 2007-12 we wouldn't be so frustrated and thirsty for success now. We wouldn't be so impatient and we would be willing to wait for this new era to evolve. Unfortunately their failures and a shocking strike rate of 3/15 finals appearances means we as fans are so eager for immediate success.

Lets not forget that this current squads average age is only 22\. Our management were forced to blood them all at the same time and thus we have to go through a trough before we peek in a year or twos time. I'm not saying that all our juniors are going to become superstars but they will surely improve to the point were we can feel confident with a 22-0 lead that we can close out a game. Hopefully our salary cap situation will also be resolved and then we can make some astute signings to compliment our talented juniors. Maybe then we won't have to say "we will be good" and can instead have the league world shouting "gee these tigers are good".

In summary, i just think we're being impatient because we expected a premiership or two during the Sheens era. We didn't get it though and now we don't want to wait any longer until these boys can deliver us one. But that was then and this is now. Give them until round 20, if there is no improvement then maybe we can start to worry.

what an excellent post. thanks tony. :sign:
